this and that...

Good Morning Campers...

I forgot a couple of things in my previous post...truth be told I have been fighting a cold and it made me a bit foggy in the head...LOL...and a bit blue..I always know when I am going to get sick because I get extremely tired..as in falling asleep while sitting up and I get very blue and weepy...after almost 47 years I can read my body well...47..holy shit..but that's a whole other post.. ;-) Anyway back to what I was saying...my mind is going a mile a minute here and my fingers can't keep up...I must be on the mend because I am raring to got his morning... I forgot to mention that I got money from my dad and Sister for Christmas and with it I treated myself to having my teeth whitened! they had a booth in the mall where you get your teeth done under the fluorescent lights and a take home kit..you get 3 follow up treatments..so far I have done 2 treatments under the lights and one at home and my teeth are at least 5 shades whiter...a bit vain I know but what the heck! I did tell you about the Booksamillion gift card..well I finished one book in 2 days the book was "Future Homemakers of America" by Laurie Graham.. review below..

Six Women...Their Loves, Laughter, and Lifelong Friendship For five American Air Force wives, Norfolk, England, in 1952 is a long way from home. But Peggy Dewey and her friends are determined to make the most of their overseas mission. While their husbands patrol the skies in F-84 fighters, the high-spirited group of military wives and young moms staves off homesickness by clipping coupons, trading gossip, and going to London to see Princess Elizabeth "get coronated." Over a stick of Juicy Fruit, brass polisher Audrey Rudman, good-time girl Lois Moon, alcohol-loving Gayle Jackson, "Pie Crust Queen" Betty Gillis, and the ever reliable Peggy meet a scrappy Englishwoman named Kath Pharaoh and a lasting friendship is forged. Through marriage and divorce, separations and reunions, the gang will try to hold fast to one another…in a story that takes us to the heart of female friendship-and reveals the secret of the perfect Three Color Refrigerator Cake.

I recommend you RUN out and get this one...the memories it bought back to me...a truly awesome read....

I also forgot to tell you that we went to our usual Crab Shack on the river on Saturday to have lunch as a family..the weather was warm and sunny and we always have a good time there..well it was still picture perfect but the service was terrible...the waitress was trying very hard .. I think the problem was the kitchen...hubby and I got our lunch 30 minutes before the kids...also we ordered a bucket of Oysters as a starter and they came a the end of the meal..we never did get the basket of fries...I went and complained to the manager who was a pretty rude old lady..she told me that they were a "laid back" kind of a restaurant and no one usually cares about the wait..I told her I wouldn't have minded the wait if our food came out at the same time...anyway she comped the meal for us but only after telling me that her Church wouldn't get her offering that week because of people like me!!! very Christian like don't ya think??? We gave the poor waitress a generous tip and she and another girl thanked us and said it was awful trying to work when the kitchen was unable to cope because usually no one says anything and they just stiff the waitress...I felt better after that....

I think that's all I wanted so say...LOL .. I will be back later with the New Year post...;-) I am going to attempt to change the layout of my Blog...time for the Christmas to go...hopefully I can do this without bothering sweet Missy...;-)

catching up.........

Good Morning Campers!

I hope this finds you all doing well this morning...everything is fine on this end..I haven't posted in a few days..I find myself spending way to much time reading my dashboard!! I must get in the habit of posting first and reading second...

Christmas has come and gone in the blink of an eye it seems... We had a lovely time..Christmas Eve hubby and I went and got the last minute bits and pieces from the store..I love to be out in the hustle and bustle and the joyous atmosphere on Christmas Eve..we were home by 11 am and didn't leave again..we hung out at the house..True beauty was working and Ryan was in and out...we had ham eggs chips and beans for supper...something I started a few years back and the only time of year we eat that..it's a British thing...;-) Christmas morning we were up about 7.30..the usual 15 minutes of opening presents...always the same thing...2 months of shopping and a few minutes to open it all..;-) Everyone was happy with their loot..Ryan got a new digital camera and then clothes...cologne..a new PS3 game ..slippers...True beauty got a new Coach purse...clothes...jewelery... hubby got new clothes..golf balls and colognes..I got mostly gift cards..to Pier 1.. Bookamillion and to the nail salon..plus some perfume and 2 new rings... the family gift was a WII which hubby got in Japan..it was a big hit...we had a lot of fun playing it and I can see why it is so popular..it is a great family investment... Hubby took Ryan to the Brig on base to visit one of his young sailors who is in there for being caught drinking underage...he thought it would do Ryan good to see that and I think it was...My FIL and his wife came round for Christmas Lunch...FIL looked pretty good...we exchanged more gifts and had a lovely lunch..my Turkey turned out really really juicy and delicious...I tried a new way of cooking it..I laid the turkey on a bed of carrots so it wasn't touching the bottom of the roasting pan then I filled the pan half way up with chicken broth and covered the turkey with foil..basted it every hour on the hour with the broth taking the foil off for the last 2 hours to let it brown..it was amazing!! We sat around talking at the table for a good hour or so after lunch then FIL wanted to go home so he could rest...hubby cleaned up for me..and then we relaxed for the rest of the day..it was quiet but wonderful..I will post pics later...we have been kind of lazy the last few days..it has been almost Tropical here...in the 80's some days..definitely not very Christmasy!! hubby has re stained the deck..I have been reading by the pool the last 2 days...yes I already spent my Booksamillion gift card...LOL..

We are not sure what our plans are for NYE...we are thinking of going to the pub on the river..they have a band and it's usually a great time and less than 5 miles from here so an easily affordable cab ride home..we are both off this week and I am so messed up on what day it is etc..seems like we are in limbo this week.. I have some big plans for myself for the new year but that's a whole other post...;-)

Have a great week...I have enjoyed reading about everyones Christmases...;-)

catching up....

Good Morning Campers!!

I know everyone is busy this time of year ..there sure don't seem to be many posts.. I hope everyone is taking a few minutes to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the merriment..it will all be over in a few days then we will have all the time in the world to clean our houses and do all the other mundane day to day stuff....this is the one time of the year when we can feel like kids again!! Enjoy the lights..the decorations..the holiday foods..even the dreaded relatives (looks at Jeanne) I know it's crazy out there but it's a good kind of crazy...;-)

I myself have been busy doing Christmas shopping..wrapping..parties.etc..etc...it was hubby's Christmas Party Friday night..it was at the Omni downtown again...we stayed in the executive suite on the 15 floor overlooking the river...it was 80 degrees Friday afternoon when we checked in so we enjoyed lunch sitting on the deck overlooking the river..watching the boats...drinking ice cold bloody Mary's...and telling ourselves who would have ever thought we would be doing this in December back in the day when we were teenagers in Kidlington...LOL... the party was a lot of fun..we won a 32 inch LCD flat screen TV!! we were going to treat ourselves to one for the Florida room in the January sales so now we can get a surround sound for it....after the party we headed up to our room to change out of our party clothes..threw on some jeans and went to Mavericks..a real life honky tonk bar complete with mechanical bull..and no I did not ride it!! it was so much fun..I am a closet country and western fan..thanks to my Mum...my foot was just a tapping..;-) we ordered breakfast in bed from room service and when we checked out found the whole thing had been comped!! no cost to us for any of it..not even the valet parking!! not sure why but we are extremely grateful!!! what a fabulous mini getaway! yesterday we just chilled ..hubby may have even had a slight hangover but he pleads the fifth..;-) I did get a couple of last minute gifts..today hubby has gone golfing and I am going to the movies with Jen to see Four Christmases...then I need to to to the grocery store as I just found out I am hosting Christmas dinner after all!! My FIL is feeling better and wants to get out the house...to be honest I am thrilled because I love cooking Christmas dinner and having everyone here with me at home... it makes it feel like Christmas to me so although I am a bit manic about all I need to do I am filled with the joy and warmth of the season...I have to work tomorrow and Tuesday and then I am off till January 5th!!

Enjoy this week!

Christmas lunch.....

Good morning campers!!...

Yesterday was our Christmas lunch at work. We finally decided to close the office for a couple of hours and do a lunch instead of an evening party as we could not find a date that would work for all of us...all they would tell us about the lunch was to be there at 11.30...we had no idea..those who were working in the clinic were told not to wear scrubs...so anyway we all met in the clinic yesterday and were told to go to the front of the building...what was waiting for us?? A stretch Limo!! We each got a red rose handed to us as we climbed in and off we went to the mystery destination.. we were allowed to drink wine on the trip ... it was so much fun..and the restaurant was the Wine Cellar down town..it was beautiful..we had a 3 course lunch...I had Lobster Bisque...followed by Crab cakes and salad...for dessert we just ordered a bunch of different ones and passed them around..my favourite was the key Lime pie which was more like a Cheesecake...we took the scenic way back to the clinic...it was a very pleasant surprise and much appreciated.some of the ladies had never been in a Limo before so it was doubly thrilling for them...I have to say I have had a great couple of days!! And today hubby and I are going Christmas shopping and out to lunch...my life is so full and warm right now..between the homecoming and the Christmas spirit I am feeling extremely blessed ...my cup runneth over....

The eagle has landed!!!

Good Morning Campers!!

Hubby arrived on time yesterday at 2pm...they did a fly by with the American flag hanging out the door..it was very emotional..we had a great homecoming and all is right in my world again!! There are truck keys on the counter..men's shoes by the door...two toothbrushes in our bathroom...two coffee cups this morning... and when we went out for dinner last night it was "Hatfield party of four".. my family is reunited and all is well...

Thank God for bringing him home safely and to all the men and women serving their country past and present I thank you...

It's going to be a great Christmas!!

Manic Sunday not Monday...;-)

Good Morning Campers...

My post yesterday was not me fishing for comments although we all know I am a bit of a comment whore..;-) It was merely an observation..without sending out a mass email I don't know how to alert people I have posted..you are only allowed 10 emails in the settings..I know myself it is time consuming to go through all the blogs on my dashboard but I know not of any other way... I appreciate your thoughts on this..it appears many of you feel the same way..

I am absolutely in the manic "oh my god he is coming home and I haven't lost 50lbs or organized the house etc" phase..LOL..happens every single time...I am excited..nervous and have butterflies...he has left Japan and is en route via Hawaii and San Diego..ETA is 1400 hours Tuesday...

Please keep my FIL in your prayers..he took a turn for the worse and is back in hospital..he has an infection somewhere..they are doing blood cultures..and he aspirated some vomit and has Pneumonia...poor old guy..he just can't seem to catch a break..he is stable though and in good spirits and anxious for his boy to get home..although he won't be at the homecoming I am confident he will be HERE and we will be stopping by the hospital on the way back from the base for sure...

My plans for today are to stay busy...True Beauty and I are off to the base for one last look at designer handbags (eye roll) then I will be going into death con 1 mode in this house...LOL..Ryan has yard detail and even the dog is getting spruced up..I have to work 12 hours tomorrow so I need to get my to do list done today....

Have a great Sunday...

Friday Morning....

Good Morning Campers!!

Hope this entry finds everyone warm and dry and looking forward to the weekend. I am in such a great mood this morning..yesterday I thought I was coming down with the dreaded funk that is going around so I dozed on and off all day and took loads of Vitamin C and am glad to report that I feel fine this morning. Today is Friday which means Jen and I are off shopping and to lunch. I have put a major dent in the Christmas shopping thanks to being out in the madness at 4.30 am last Friday but still have a ways to go. Of course the big buzz around here is the Homecoming..3 days and a wake up!! I am beyond excited...I have a list as long as my arm of last minute things to get done around here...got to have the house up to the Master Chiefs standards :-) The tree is up and decorated..the lights are up outside..Ryan did his Dad proud this year..hubby told us on skype that he did not want to have to mess with "all that" when he came home..his wish has been granted..he also advised Ryan to leave the house while I was decorating the house...sound advice I'd say! ;-) So we are ready...just bring him home safely is all I ask..it's been a long 7 months....

Well that's all from me really...I shall be doing the Christmas cards this weekend sometime..thanks to Missy and Lisa Jo who sent me theirs already...

Have a lovely weekend..enjoy the spirit of the season...

P.S. Father-in-law is doing okay...is home but still rather weak but out of the woods so to speak..

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Good Morning Campers!!

Hope everyone is warm and cozy this morning and getting ready for a fun day of food..family...more food...zoning out in front of the telly and then ..yep more food!! I am pretty tickled this morning to be sitting in front of my own computer..it was indeed the fan but not the fan that you can just dust off the main fan had over heated..but I have a good relationship with the computer shop guys and they knew I was wanting to skype with hubby today so they put the new fan in for me for just the cost of the fan..no labor...very sweet of them!!

Today will be a very quiet Thanksgiving..the in-laws are not up to coming over here..FIL is home but still a bit weak ..True Beauty (my daughter) has to work..double time and a half so she's not really complaining...so it will be just me and Ryan..actually I am looking forward to it...we will be having a huge Christmas dinner with the whole family in a few weeks so it fine with me to have a quiet day at home today..I am cooking a small Turkey and a small ham and the usual side dishes..Ryan requested my homemade Macaroni and Cheese...I have a good book I'm reading and there are always some good chick flicks on today so all in all it is going to be a great day albeit quiet.

Thought I would take a minute to list a few things I am thankful for this morning....

1. My family...
2.. My health...
3... My hubby who will be home in 11 days and a wake up!!!!
4.... Computer back up and running..it truly is my lifeline....

AWARD..

Good Morning campers!!

It is bloody freezing here this morning but my heart was warmed when I read that I had been given the award above...it actually means something to me because it's the Real Award for Real People and I am nothing if not real...LOL..so thank you Barry and Linda for recognising that!! The rule is to nominate 7 more people for the award but as I follow more than 100 blogs picking just 7 is near on impossible..fact is if I follow you it's because you are "real" to me...so consider yourself nominated!!

Have a great weekend and stay warm!!

Thursday Morning...

Good Morning campers!!

It is a very cold morning here.. temps have dipped in the 20's overnight..we are breaking all records for this time of year... I am loving it..we don't get cold weather here very often and it's nice to dig out the boots and sweaters and scarves...not to mention how cozy the fireplace was last night...

I am touched by all the prayers and comments of support regarding hubby's dad...he is doing a little better after receiving IV diuretics..he is also on steroids which make him feel great... his oxygen level is till a concern and they are worried about his kidney function but he is much better and I have hope once again that he will still be here when hubby makes it home...

It has been a week for bad news health wise..my co worker lost her granny in the Philippines..she fell and hit her head and was declared brain dead...my friend Jens Mum is having her big toe and part of her foot amputated today due to gangrene..and another co workers grandma was diagnosed with ovarian cancer... all so sad this time of year...

I have been pretty busy I am working an extra shift today to cover for someone..I worked Monday and Tuesday and yesterday was spent doing housework..running errands and going up the hospital to visit FIL...

Hope everyone is staying warm...gas is down to $1.90 here by the way... ;-)

Catch up with you when I can...

prayers please..

My father-in-law is back in the hospital...he has been going down hill for the past few weeks..he has fluid on the lung and coughing up blood...this is the progression of his Emphysema...I just pray that he can hold on long enough for hubby to see him again....he hasn't been out of bed much in the past couple of days and got progressively weaker so his wife took him to the hospital...I seriously doubt he will come home again but remain hopeful...please consider him in your prayers..

thanks..

Monday morning..

Good morning Campers!!

Pretty chilly here this morning..I have yet to put the heat on because it will be in the 70's later .. not to mention I hate the smell when you first turn these forced air heaters on...gross!! The kids want the heat on..I told them to put some clothes on...LOL..

I haven't wrote a real post since I went to Savannah...it was incredible...the drive up was nice because the weather was picture perfect...we arrived at 11.30..checked in to our hotel which was very quaint and exactly how I pictured it...we dumped out bags..changed into shorts and hit River Street..wow! there was a street market going on as well as a seafood festival...first stop was Kevin Barry's Irish pub for a pint of cider...;-) then we spent the day wandering around the market...sampling the food and candies...had a frozen daiquiri from Wet Willy's..they were amazing....had lunch at the same Irish pub..more browsing around...went over to City market..a quaint little square full of shops..then it was back to the hotel for a quick nap...got showered and changed..had a drink in the hotel bar then hit the streets again..it was very festive and everyone was in high spirits...a definite party atmosphere..we watched a lot of street performers..some fish throwing...crazy sailors climbing the tall ships...just a lot of good fun...we finished the night back in the pub listening to Irish music..there were some young lads shipping out the next day and it bought a tear to my eye..they were getting pints bought for them and lots of good luck slaps on the back...we crashed early..around midnight..we had an extra hour in bed due to the clocks going back so after the free continental breakfast we were on the road home by 9.30am..it was a wonderful fun filled weekend and just what I needed..I plan on taking hubby back there for a different kind of a weekend...;-)

Last week was pretty uneventful except for the election! wow! Like I said a day we will never forget....I went to the school to talk about Ryan's last IEP..this is his senior year and we are all on the same page which is to see Ryan graduate with his class this year...he has had some attendance issues which I hopefully have a handle on now...let's just say Ryan and I had a prayer meeting and his world has changed completely..so far he is seeing things my way.... ;-)

Cadet ( my Yorkie) got a much needed hair cut....I cleaned the carpets..did a little Christmas shopping..went to the Library....spent some time outside enjoying the cool but sunny weather...Yesterday I went to church..this is my third time at this new one..l am liking it more and more....that's pretty much it...counting the days till hubby gets home...;-)

have a great week everyone...

Special shout out to Donna...wishing you a speedy recovery and all the very best..you are loved and missed so much!!!!! say hi to Nancy...;-)

Happy Birthday in heaven...

I repost this each year in honour of my Mum....she would have been 72 today..it's been 5 years since we lost her....Happy Birthday in heaven Mum.. xx

As you know I did not have the greatest of relationships with my Mum.She was moody, miserable, bitchy a lot of the time. She was also very funny, kind hearted, great with old people..would give you the shirt off her back.. great sense of humour..we once almost got thrown off a bus for the uncontrollable giggles caused by a man sitting oppisite us with this huge bandage on his nose..one look at him and her and I were off...it was terrible!! the more we tried to stop the worse it got... LOL She cried at the Waltons and Little House on the Prarie.. she loved dogs..we had a Red Setter called Tramp for 14 years.. she walked him 3 miles every day..sometimes twice...she could do cartwheels, juggle, ride a moterbike, never learned to drive..she tried a few times but always gave up she was way too nervous.. she made Christmas very very special.. she would begin "hoarding" food as early as September..she kept it all under th stairs...she loved Malteasers (english candy similar to whoppers) she smoked..in her later years rolled her own to save money.. I saw her get into at least 3 fist fights with women...she had a terrible temper...one time this girl was after me..said I had been after her boyfirend..my Mum drug her out the pub by her hair and told her she ever so much as looked at me wrong she would be back... ;-) She loved Country and Western music and dancing and slot machines. she was the life and soul of the party and no one would ever believe the way she was at home..she was terrified of Doctors, hospitals and had a morbid fear of choking.. she chewed her food into tiny pieces to avoid that....if we ever got hurt as kids she would go get the neighbours because she would panic......she once knocked two ornaments together while dusting and smashed them and cut her palms badly..she had to have stitches and they pretty much had to put her to sleep to do them..LOL...she was always dusting, hoovering, would come in on a saturday morning when I was trying to sleep in and open the curtains and the bloody windows and start hoovering around me...LOL.. she would spit on a hanky and wipe off my face as a kid ewwwwwwwwww...she was only just 5' tall..she was one of twins..her twin died at birth..she was born in a workhouse..she only weighed 2lb.. she never met her dad he was an alcoholic and died of Cirrosis of the liver.. her family was very poor.. she had 2 sisters and 3 brothers...hr real name was Diana but veryone called her babe as she was the youngest.. I once watched her and her sister get into a fight..my dad and my uncle had to sperate them with a water hose...LOL.. she was very very passionate... she would defend us kids to the very end...looking back I can see we had far more happy times than sad...but when I reached puberty that was it..we fought on and off for years..she semed to be jealous of me..she begrudged me the relationship I had with my dad..she felt like it was us against her...the things she said and did to me were awful..she hit me..she calld me all the names under the sun...she hated with the same passion she loved...but at the end of the day I can say that she loved me and she did her best...she grew up in a time when you didn't talk about womens problems, depression was not an option, I know she suffered from it though, and I know she had a terrible time with menopause but never asked for help... and I can admit I was a typical moody teenager. I just wish things could have been different.. I wish we could have had the kind of relationaship I have with my daughter... that is the one good thing that came out of it..I was determined to not be the way she was...
Anyways...
No Happy Returns Mum...just happy memories till we meet again..night night God Bless....

You will remember this day for the rest of your life....

Phil posted this in his blog and I just had to do the same.....

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama spoke at a rally in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, after winning the race for the White House Tuesday night. The following is an exact transcript of his speech.

Obama:Hello, Chicago. If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer. It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference. It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled. Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and always will be, the United States of America. It's the answer that led those who've been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day. It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment change has come to America.A little bit earlier this evening, I received an extraordinarily gracious call from Sen. McCain.Sen. McCain fought long and hard in this campaign. And he's fought even longer and harder for the country that he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine. We are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader.I congratulate him; I congratulate Gov. Palin for all that they've achieved. And I look forward to working with them to renew this nation's promise in the months ahead.I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart, and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on the train home to Delaware, the vice president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden. And I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last 16 years the rock of our family, the love of my life, the nation's next first lady Michelle Obama.Sasha and Malia I love you both more than you can imagine. And you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the new White House. And while she's no longer with us, I know my grandmother's watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight. I know that my debt to them is beyond measure. To my sister Maya, my sister Alma, all my other brothers and sisters, thank you so much for all the support that you've given me. I am grateful to them. And to my campaign manager, David Plouffe, the unsung hero of this campaign, who built the best -- the best political campaign, I think, in the history of the United States of America. To my chief strategist David Axelrod who's been a partner with me every step of the way.To the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you've sacrificed to get it done. But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to. It belongs to you. It belongs to you.I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn't start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington. It began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston. It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give $5 and $10 and $20 to the cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep. It drew strength from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on doors of perfect strangers, and from the millions of Americans who volunteered and organized and proved that more than two centuries later a government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the Earth. This is your victory. And I know you didn't do this just to win an election. And I know you didn't do it for me.You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime -- two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us.There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after the children fall asleep and wonder how they'll make the mortgage or pay their doctors' bills or save enough for their child's college education. There's new energy to harness, new jobs to be created, new schools to build, and threats to meet, alliances to repair. The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.I promise you, we as a people will get there. There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years -- block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand. What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter cannot end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.It can't happen without you, without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice. So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.Let us remember that, if this financial crisis taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers. In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity. Those are values that we all share. And while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices. I need your help. And I will be your president, too.And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces, to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of the world, our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand.To those -- to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you. And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright: Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope. That's the true genius of America: that America can change. Our union can be perfected. What we've already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow. This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that's on my mind tonight's about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She's a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing: Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons -- because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin. And tonight, I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America -- the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can't, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can. When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs, a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can. When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that "We Shall Overcome." Yes we can.A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change.Yes we can.America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves -- if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made? This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time, to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth, that, out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope. And where we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.Thank you. God bless you. And may God bless the United States of America.

Tuesdays with Lyn...

Good morning campers!!

How's your week going? We got Monday out the way so bonus!
The cancer walk Saturday was amazing..our little group alone raised $600.. to see the sea of pink walking for a cure was so inspirational..there were many women there going through the various stages of treatment..some with no hair..some with pink ball caps on..some pushing walkers..all warriors in their own right.. of course I was thinking of our our very own warrior Kimberly... I was proud to be a part of such a wonderful cause....

Sunday was a restful relaxing chill kind of a day.. I did go to the bookstore...imagine that..LOL..I have been on such a book kick lately..at present I am re reading Wally Lambs "She's come undone" ..it is just as good the second time around...yesterday was a busy day at the clinic..I left the house in the dark at 8am and got home in the dark at 8pm..hate driving home in the dark...no more evenings on the deck reading for me..I have another busy day today but then that's it till next week..gotta love my schedule.. ;-)

Hubby had some disturbing news for me via Skype..the job that he has been promised to finish up his Navy career is no longer there..it will be gone as of June 09..they are cutting back in the Military just like every other place..so now we have to find a place for him to finish out his last 3 years so he can retire... I did not want to hear this..I am not open to him being gone for any length of time..I am sick and tired of doing this alone...we have done our share of "unaccompanied' tours..they need to find him a nice little desk job here in Florida and let the man finish his time..he has given 30 years of his life to the military dammit! He told me not to go "ape shit" yet..things change in the Military by the second so things could be entirely different by Feb when he is due to transfer...so keep your fingers crossed for us ... I will tell you one thing I am ready for my man to come home in December..this has been a LONG 7 months...

okay folks that's all from my little corner of the world....you have a wonderful day...

Saturday Morning..

Good Morning Campers!!

Why am I up at this godforsaken hour on a Saturday morning? Doing a 5k breast cancer walk that's what! Yep hubby's squadron has a team in honor of one of the wives who is undergoing radiation right now for Breast Cancer....as many of you know cancer has been a huge part of my life..so many family members and dear friends have had to deal with cancers wrath..including my own darling hubby..the least I can do is get my arse out of bed early on a Saturday morning and show some love and support....

Other than that I don't have a whole lot of plans ... I have been "nesting"..cleaning..organizing..re-arranging things...I always do that this time of year...I have spent an incredible amount of time online too..trying to get used to this new format...the jury is out as to which I prefer but I will say I miss the ease and comfort of AoHell...;-) Not to mention I have a my space and a face book page to keep track of...I have got in touch with a few Friends from school back in UK..seems face book is more popular over there.... so I have been keeping busy...only 2 more months left on this deployment..this will be the longest we have gone without seeing each other in our 25 years of marriage...almost 7 months...

That's all from me this morning.... I am off to get a hot shower and get fired up for this walk....

have a great weekend!

Sunday Sunday....

Good Morning Campers...

How is everyone this morning? There is a nip in the air here and I am loving it..I have the windows open as we "speak" and it feels so good..I will have to close everything back up and out the air on before noon as it is going to be in the high 80's here again but at least I get to air the place out for a few hours...

So I went to the Lisa Williams show...I have to say I am now a bit skeptical!!!! there was a lot of " can anyone relate to a Bob?" um....audience of 500 or so of course someone will know a Bob that's passed..then when the person acknowledged the questions seemed more like a process of elimination.."did he have a pain in his side?" then the person would answer no he had cancer of the liver..then she would respond.."did he lose his hair and was upset about it?"  see where I am going with this??  anyways it was still a lot of fun and she did do one true reading where she told a widow that her hubby had seen her scotch tape his picture frame..that was real to me because how would she have known that?  like I said a fun evening but a bit of an eye opener..and no my Mum did not come through although I could have "related" to one of the Princess Di stories....I wore my Mums ring and somehow can't bring myself to take it off...

I drove with Jen to Tallahassee and back yesterday to help her parents clean out their storage unit...bit of a waste of time as they didn't keep much..and my Saturday was spent in a car when the weather was almost perfect but oh well..I WILL spend sometime today enjoying this weather out on the deck....I went a little bonkers in Booksamillion and bought 4 more books to read.... ;-)

Hope you all are having a great weekend...

one more thing...

I forgot to tell you about a little incident at the bar Saturday night. My co workers and I are all sitting around chatting and the subject of Go Karting came up..well this one chick who is skinny (this is relevant to the story)  looks me dead in the eye and says "I don't think you would fit in Go Kart".... the table fell into a awkward silence..it was one of those moments where your life flashes before your eyes and I actually saw myself jack her skinny arse up off the stool and slam her on the ground..thank god it was only a vision but next time I am not so sure..... tell em this..why are so people so cruel?? talk about a buzz kill.. <sigh>

Just me...

            (thanks Bethe for the tag)

Good Morning Campers!!!

How are we all this fine Wednesday/Hump Morning??? There is definitely a chill in the air this morning..okay so not really a chill because it's still 70 degrees out there but it is windy and cooler than normal and I am so ready for some fall like weather that I'll take it!!!

Things are going well here in my neck of the woods...had a great weekend last weekend..Friday I went out to lunch with Jen and to the movies..we saw "The women"..awesome chick flick and get this...not one single male in the entire movie!!!! how clever!! I always knew we didn't need them anyway :-p  I highly recommend you go with your gal pals to go see it....Jada Picket Smith plays a lesbian and she has some of the funniest one liners in the film.... Saturday I went shopping at my fav store Kohl's..got some new jeans and a couple of tops...then onto the baby shower for the Dr. at work...after that we headed to the pub for some much needed drinks and to dish the dirt...LOL...Sunday all the lads in the neighbourhood that drink all my soda and eat all my food paid me back my helping Ryan do the yard work...then we had a mini football party and our Jags won their first game of the season...yay!! I worked Monday and Tuesday and now I am off again for 5 days..yes I am aware I have the best schedule on earth...don't hate!!  Thursday is the Lisa Williams show..can't wait...Friday is girls day again and Saturday I am driving with Jen to Tallahassee to help move her Mums stuff out of storage...next weekend is the official "over the hump" party for the squadron..meaning we are over half way through this deployment..we are holding it at the base.. we have a DJ and everything..woo hoo!! Then Nov 1st I am going to Savannah for the night with another friend to go shopping and to see an Irish band...so as you can see I am keeping busy and getting out there and am officially off the pity pot ;-)

Have to share a little bit of gossip..as you know I hate our office manager...I don't know if I told you however that she fired one of my co workers.."just because" and replaced her immediately with one of her friends..did not advertise the job etc etc..it was an inside job per se....well the fired co worker is now getting unemployment and is suing our office to the tune of $650,000!!!!!! She has pages and pages of documentation on how she was treated...smart girl kept a journal...I am so glad that this "person" will finally get her comeuppance!!!!!  they have not said anything at the office yet but there has been a lot of behind closed doors whispering going on...yes I am gloating...:-P

Okay that is all I have... I shall leave you with my five...

1. Autumn!!

2.. great day at work yesterday...

3... skype!!!!!!

4....my hot coffee this morning and some computer time...

Noo Deal :-(

Good Morning Campers!!

Well deal or No Deal was definitely a No Deal for us  :-(

Here's how our trip went...

Wednesday: Arrive at airport ..flying US Airways..find out that they charge you to check ANY bag...$15 for the first $25 for the 2nd and $100 for bags 3-9...unflippingbelievable...fly to Charlotte NC...change planes to LA...while on flight you have to pay for every single item.. coffee..tea...soda...water.. EVERYTHING... get to LA..no bags..yes folks just like last time I flew they lost our bags.... fill out paper work etc etc..meet the guy with the deal or no deal sign...;-)  he drops us at the Hotel..we check in and then he leaves us to it...literally..we did not see them again until FRIDAY morning...the hotel is beautiful but with no clothes we can't do to much except sit by the pool in our grungy traveling clothes...we eat in the hotel restaurant and call it a night...

Thursday...I call the airline and they tell me the bags came in on a flight at 7pm and the bags were delivered to the hotel at 1am..(why did it take 6 hours to deliver bags 5 miles?) so I call the concierge and they tell me no bags...to make a long dull story short I had to make several phone calls and get pretty ugly in order fro them to search the hotel to find that the bags were put in LOST and FOUND luggage and not in the delivered luggage spot hence the concierge couldn't find them...so at 9am we finally get our bags and the hotel gives us complimentary breakfast delivered to our room..very nice it was too...;-)  we unpack get showered and call our contact at the studio to see if they need us..they say no but not to go too far in case they should wrap taping early and might need us..so we get the trolley to manhattan beach and so a scenic tour of the gorgeous houses..the beach the shops etc..we stop off at a couple of malls and then head back to the hotel (Brandon needs 2 hip replacements and can't walk too much).. we hung at the pool and then ordered in some food and got a good nights sleep ready for our "big" day...

Friday....we call them to see what time we are needed and they say be ready in the lobby at 9am...we get ourselves all prettied up and go to the lobby...they pick us up on time and we drive to the studio..when we get there it a lot of hustle and bustle..producers coming in and out ...telling us what we will be doing..how it will go etc etc..they have us hidden behind closed doors because we are the surprise guests..they move us to the green room and tell us hair and make up will be in shortly..as the producer is leaving he mentions that if the first contestant of the day ends up having  long show they "might" not have time to film us and if that happens they will release us and bring us back at a later date but not to worry because they doubt that will happen...anyway we get hair and make up..my god they put so much powder on me I looked so old!!! hated it! they didn't do much to my hair except flat iron it a little....so we sit and wait and wait and wait..they pop their heads in once in a while to ask if we need anything..there were drinks and snacks and a flat screen TV with movies etc..there was a bathroom in there too..thank god...this was 10am...at 1pm we get lunch...then we wait and wait some more...at 3pm some young girl comes in and says "okay we are releasing you" they quickly ushered us out the back door...still hiding us in case we come back to tape they didn't want the "surprise" ruined...and that people was that!!!! so disappointing...they said it happens all the time and they often have to bring people back..well I already told Brandon I won't be going back..you are totally responsible for your own expenses other that the hotel and flight...so we didn't get to meet Howie..Brandon didn't even get to say hi to his nurse...it was fun to be at the studio ..they film the new Bonnie Hunt show there <looks at Lisa Jo>  and we rushed past her dressing room..I saw her name on the door...LOL.. so anyway we go back to the hotel room and poor Brandon has to call everyone and tell them he didn't make it on the show..his Mum had spent a lot of money on buying him new clothes too...she said I hope you didn't take all the tags off..LOL..we had Chinese food delivered and went to bed....and Saturday we flew home....

so it was definitely No deal for us....:-(

How was your weekend???

I'm going!!!

It's official..we're going!! Flying out to Los Angeles via Charlotte NC Wednesday return Saturday....staying at the Westin...driver picking us up from airport..been told to look for the man holding the "deal or No deal" sign..LOL.. very excited..took a few hours off tomorrow to get prepared...have to cover the evening clinic though..:-(

will write more tomorrow...my mind is going a million miles a minute here..I am frantically making lists..LOL

Deal or no deal...

Good Morning Campers!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend..mine was pretty good...

Do you guys remember me talking about Brandon? He is my sons best friend from elementary school who had a stem cell transplant because of leukemia..he spent almost 2 years in hospital...thank god he is in full remission now..well anyway..his grandparents bought him a Dodge charger and then the make a wish foundation pimped it out for him..it is gorgeous..well now the producers from Deal or No Deal called him and want him to go on the show as the "surprise" guest for one of the contestants..she was his nurse at the hospital and they were looking for one of her former patients to come on the show to surprise her and the hospital gave them Brandon's name...how exciting huh?? wait there's more..his Mum won't let him go alone and she has to work and his dad has to stay home with the kids so guess who may be chaperoning Brandon to L.A.? yep me!!!!!! First class all the way baby..limo from the studio to pick us up etc etc...We will know for sure today if they are okay with me going but I don't think they will mind..they actually pay for people to have their teeth fixed if they are a mess..did you know that?? crazzzzzzzzy...Brandon always calls me Mum and eats at my house almost every night...we are very close..I was very flattered when he asked me though...if I get to go we fly out Wednesday..shoot the show Thursday and return Friday....I will let you know later today...the producer will be calling today...   ;-)

(Ryan and brandon in car)
