Good Morning Campers...
I thought the last day in my Forties warranted a post...:-)
I have no problems turning the big 5-0...I'm quite content with where I am in life. I do reflect back on my younger days with nostalgia and sometimes miss them..it's the like the old saying.."If I only knew then what I know now"..
Thought I would share a few of the things I have done over the past five decades...
1960's:
Born march 18th 1962..lived in a small cottage with no bathroom ..just an outside toilet..remember being bathed in a tub in front the the telly once a week...
Had Whooping Cough at age 2..my first ever memory is of being woken up by a Dr. tickling my foot with a feather when I had passed out from coughing so hard..My Mum had thrown me down the stairs as she thought I was dead..my dad caught me as he was running up..the Dr. gave me a sixpence...
Moved to a 3 bedroom semi-detached house in 1965...the house my Dad and sister still live in..it had an inside bathroom..with a bath..I recall we were able to go take a bath the week before we moved in..the bath was pink...
1967: my Sister was born at home in my Mum and Dads bedroom...my brother wasn't happy having another sister..I saw her minutes after she was born and thought she was so RED...
1970's :
I remember wanting bell bottoms so bad for my 8th birthday in 1970..I got them.. They were two toned brown and cream and I thought I was so cool...
1973: I was sexually abused by my guitar teacher who was my dads co-worker and friend..it was a very dark place in my life and the end of my childhood...
I remember the disco era..the Bay City Rollers..the platforms..the baggy trousers..stripy socks...wacky hair...Top of the Pops on TV and me wanting to be in Pans People (go go dancers)
1978: I started dating my hubby..we were high school sweethearts and I have never ever felt anything like the desperate love I had for him then..my every thought was consumed by him and my every mood was determined by him..he had the ability to leave me tongue tied and breathless every time I saw him.. I hope every person on earth gets to feel that just once in their lifetime...
The 80's!!!!
1980 :Wow! that a time for change that was..I was proposed to and then had my wedding called off 4 weeks before..I found out my best Friend and my Fiance were sleeping together..(yes my hubby I have now)
1981-1983 I moved out and lived in a house with 2 room mates..I worked at a Dental office as a receptionist and had a great life going for me..I was traveling..France..Italy..Spain... I was going out all the time..dating..having a blast..
1983..Hubby joined the USN came home on leave and asked me to marry him (again) I said yes..we had a whirlwind marriage..he left for flight training and I moved in with his Mum and Dad for 7 months till I got my Visa and emigrated to the States in December 1983..
1984..got orders to Norfolk Virginia..moved into our first cockroach infested apartment..I got pregnant in July..
1985: My darling baby Girl was born on April 6th..I experienced a whole new level of love becoming a Mum..those were some of the happiest days of my life..life was hard and we had no money but I was so happy..
1987: bought our first house..a 3 bedroom in the Suburbs in Virginia Beach..loved that house and made some of the best friends of my life there...I was a stay at home Mum and loved it...
The 90's!!
1990: My son was born in June..he was the absolute apple of my eye and has been very special to me from day one..I was afraid I wouldn't love him like I loved my daughter but that wasn't so..there is something about sons and their Mums..
1992: hubby was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma..dark dark days...we were celebrating him making Chief and then found this out...it was a very bitter sweet time...
1993: Hubby went into remission and has been ever since..I will never forget the love and support shown to us from our friends in Virginia..
1994: We got orders to Jacksonville Florida..oh how we cried when we left VA...we rented a house in Orange Park .. and I got my drivers license!! First woman in my family to do so and such a huge deal to us!
1997: Bought the house we still live in today..never thought I would ever own a house with a swimming pool in the back yard..loved this house from day one and still do... my Mother in law died in December..a very sad time..
1998: My FIL remarried and bought the new wife over here..the beginning of the end for him...over the next several years she tore the family apart and bit by bit took away his independence..
The New Millennium 2000
Bought in the year 2000 at friends house..we were all anticipating something drastic was going to happen ..it didn't..it was a great party though!
2003: worse year of my life...My Mum got sick..she had an Ischemic Bowel..she was on a ventilator for 5 weeks before she died of Pneumonia...she had never been sick before..she was the core of our family and I feel so disconnected to this day and lonely.. Rachel graduated high school..
2004: Thanks to my sister buying my brother and I out of the family home I got my inheritance from my parents early and was able to do a lot of updating to our home including the addition of our Florida room that we have come to love so much...
2005-2008 ..hubby was gone a lot..lots of military tours and a stint in New Orleans...
2009 FIL became pretty ill..hubby got orders to Guam for 2 years leaving in September...had out first Christmas apart in 26 years..Ryan graduated high school..
2010 FIL died July 3rd..then came the news that his wife had talked him into leaving everything to her and her 5 children..destroyed the family..we have not seen or spoken to her since the funeral..and I never will...
2011: Hubby returned from Guam to finish out his Naval career here in Jacksonville..we had the vacation of a lifetime to Hawaii to celebrate..
2012..I turn 50!!!
