How's your week going? We got Monday out the way so bonus!
The cancer walk Saturday was amazing..our little group alone raised $600.. to see the sea of pink walking for a cure was so inspirational..there were many women there going through the various stages of treatment..some with no hair..some with pink ball caps on..some pushing walkers..all warriors in their own right.. of course I was thinking of our our very own warrior Kimberly... I was proud to be a part of such a wonderful cause....
Sunday was a restful relaxing chill kind of a day.. I did go to the bookstore...imagine that..LOL..I have been on such a book kick lately..at present I am re reading Wally Lambs "She's come undone" ..it is just as good the second time around...yesterday was a busy day at the clinic..I left the house in the dark at 8am and got home in the dark at 8pm..hate driving home in the dark...no more evenings on the deck reading for me..I have another busy day today but then that's it till next week..gotta love my schedule.. ;-)
Hubby had some disturbing news for me via Skype..the job that he has been promised to finish up his Navy career is no longer there..it will be gone as of June 09..they are cutting back in the Military just like every other place..so now we have to find a place for him to finish out his last 3 years so he can retire... I did not want to hear this..I am not open to him being gone for any length of time..I am sick and tired of doing this alone...we have done our share of "unaccompanied' tours..they need to find him a nice little desk job here in Florida and let the man finish his time..he has given 30 years of his life to the military dammit! He told me not to go "ape shit" yet..things change in the Military by the second so things could be entirely different by Feb when he is due to transfer...so keep your fingers crossed for us ...
okay folks that's all from my little corner of the world....you have a wonderful day...

I know what you feel....most of my relationship with my Hubby has been over long distances...he just retired from the military..to concentrate on school. And finally we are in the same place at the same time after so long. But it can get lonely...and sometimes you feel "single", but I assure you it gets better. I just wanted to leave a hello message...My brother is a career military and my best friend also recently left to concentrate on school as well. Hope to continue following your blog.
I know from what my son experiences that things change often. He'll have put in 20 years in a couple of years. Hopefully there will be a post for your hubby nearby. 30 years should count for something. 'On Ya' - ma
You are serving this country as much as he is and I thank you - it must be so hard. I can't imagine! Please keep us posted... sending prayers that it will work out right.
be well...
What an AWESOME thing you did on that walk! CONGRATS on such a huge accomplishment!!
I hope things with your hubby get straightened out. All of the uncertainty in the world lately is enough to make everyone NUTS!!!
((hugs))

i also hope Lester gets that desk job. He has given up SO much for this country. I know that 12 hr day made you tired....i think it is cool you are reading alot. That is relaxing. XO
Love to hear what people are reading. Sounds like that book is a good one. I'm sorry about the military not coming thru. I too hope he gets to come home soon.
I always want to call you "Brit" instead of "Lyn" b/c it's been stamped on my brain "Brits Blog". I'm learning. lol

Hi Lyn 30 years that a long long time hope you hubby gets the job he deserves after all that time served. Love Joan.
Well done your group for raising that amount of money.
Your amazing as is your husband. My thoughts and prayers will go up knowing everything will work out as it should. Take care and enjoy your book,
Katie
Well done on your walk Lyn,it must have been so insiring ,I hope the news changes about Hubbys job and for the better ,,love Jan xx
Hope it all works out for you and your husband, but like you say. Things change in the military every other minute.
Lyn, Hope and crossing fingers and toes for the husband to get the perfect job in FL! Hang in there!
I hope that they are able to find your husband a desk job as well Lyn. I only did 22 years with my ex in the military. In that time we moved 16 times and for every 3 months he spent at home he spent at least 6 away. I reckon I pretty much raised our five kids on my own for the most part. The last time he was away was for a year in Bosnia and when he got back from there he was never the same. I don't blame you for being sick and tired of it! (((hugs)))
WTG on the walk...poohey for hubby...try and stay strong!!!
Wow, you did wonderful on the walk. WTG. I hope they can find your husband something close. We are all so grateful for his service and it must have been so difficult for you all.
My daughter is finding out what that life is all about. She's trying to be the strong, silent type and do it all herself. I keep trying to remind her she has family she can spend time with and just because he's away doesn't mean she can't have a life herself. As of now he's still in Mississippi, they are shipping him to Iraq after Christmas. It's unbelievable...it just makes it that much longer she will be without him and will be gone to Iraq when he does finally leave stateside. I truly do understand what your going through, I see it in my daughter. It's not an easy life by any standards. (Hugs)Indigo
congrats on raising that much money on the walk - what an awesome cause!
Yes the military does change their mind every other day and twice on sundays...I will keep my fingers crossed that he gets to stay at home for his last three years...
(even crossing my toes)
take care--Ellie
I hope the military comes through for you and your hubby. We thank you both for the sacrifices you made for this country. I hope you have a great day, Sheila (jarico63)
I hope something works out for you and hubby.
Fantastic amount of Dollars raised for such a worthy cause. Well done you for being a part of it. I'm so glad Hayley & I did the walk this year.

Praying that they get hubby in one spot for the rest of his career!
I've been reading a lot this week. I'm working on Flying Changes by Sara Gruen.
I know it must be a drag having your spouse so far a way for an extended period of time like that. Glad you raised so much, that was good. Have a good week.
I can't imagine how difficult having your husband away like this is. I hope he can do his last couple of years at home too!
Yes, the military is cutting back. My cousins in the Azores are lucky they still have their civilian jobs on the American Air Force base there. My cousin who has been working there for over 30 years was given early retirement just recently. I'm glad you did the walk! :) Julie
Wow! That is some news. Hopefully it will change and be even better by the time you need it. :)

7 months is a long time and if they don't give him a desk job you let me know and I'll show up with some baseball bats and we'll take care of the situation like the super chicks we are.

Fingers crossed!!!
Congrats on the cancer walk!
Hope you can find the right place for that last 3 years.
I know what you mean about driving in the dark, it makes the day feel longer.
Have a great rest of the week!
:) Leigh
Congrats on the money earned for breast cancer research!
As for your husband, I will keep the situation in my prayers that he can be given something there close to home.

I read that book. I'm reading "Eat pray, love" now. Oprah had the author on a few weeks ago.
Hope things work out with hubby. I love the "Ape shit" comment...to funny.
Love ya
Good Morning dear Lyn, Well as I read your note I realise I have no idea what it might be like to be a military wife. I know when hubby was a Police Officer and worked shifts that was bad enough.
I am committing myself to pray for your husband to be able to finish off his military career right there in Florida. We will be in your part of the country after we do the Disneyworld thing and catch the NCL "Jewel" from Miami to the S. Caribbean. I am taking my whole family hopefully and I tell them I am spending my and their inheritance while Papa and I are here.
I hope you have a blessed day and will look forward to updated news.
Blessings,
Lori (from Alberta, Canada)
Oh Lyn, I forgot to congratulate you on the walk.
I go for my mammogram and check up with the Ongologist here next month.
My thoughts about reoccurrance have diminished as I ask the Lord to help me in this matter.
My hubby is back home right now and going to his "Cardiac Rehabilitation" at a nearby city hospital. He returned back yesterday as Monday was our Thanksgiving holiday and his appointment was cancelled.
I am sipping my lovely "cup of tea", making some porridge for the grandsons while they watch their favourite shows...Parents return late tonight from New York.
Talk with you again...
Love Lori
oh I'm SO glad you stopped by and left a comment so I could find you on here. I've missed reading about you and your life. Sorry to hear about the situation with you hubby...I find military/service wives to be so strong, you guys are home raising the kids alone and taking care of everything. I don't think I could do that. I'll be praying that they find him a nice desk job near home. Congrats on raising all that money for breast cancer, that is awesome!!
xoxo, Heather (&Gia sends hugs and coo's) ;-)
Yeah, we went though the same thing when my OLD MAN was in the mil but we were always together so it was like we were not that far apart... SO I def know how you feel!

I know how you feel sister. It's probably more upsetting to you since you're Navy and (IIRC) you usually know your next assignment well in advance. We are waiting to hear about our next assignment, and hopefully, maybe, last one - and we (I) want a nice quiet one too! Preferably where I want it, but that's not likely to happen!
Hoping that last little bit of his deployment flies by for you!
That's great that your group raised $600! I bet it was an amazing sight... I'm sorry about the job for your Hubby. I'll be praying that an even better job will open up at home!
HUGS:)
Well done on the Cancer Walk.
Angie, xx
hey hon.. you know I'm keeping my fingers crossed... I sure hope they come thru for him he most definitely deserves it!

I was a military wife also... know about how the military can change things in a heartbeat! I'll be sending positive thoughts your way for it to work out the way you want it to. Have a nice day!! Lisa
You guys did great on your walk! I'm sorry that you got bad news about your husband's "finishing-out" job. I hope that something else comes open before February that will keep him home or nearby.
Wow Lyn..well done babes!!
I miss you soooooo much!!
Love Ste
