Tuesdays with Lyn

Good morning campers!!!

Yes a real entry from me....the family has all left...well the girls are down in Orlando doing the Disney thing..their flight back to UK is Thursday....I love Lester's sister but she has a huge chip on her shoulder and being around her is emotionally draining..she feels she does not get treated as equally as the boys and is always finding ways to point this out..this led to a family argument Friday night in our fav. Mexican restaurant..after 2 pitchers of margaritas mind you..;-) to be honest it was a bit embarrassing but not surprising ..whenever the Hatfields all get together there is usually a row involved...I won't bore you all with the details but one of the ridiculous ideas that came up is that she feels that she wasn't included in the plans for her Mums funeral (10 years ago)..that when she got into town the burial plans had been made...she knew her mum wanted to be cremated..I knew this too so it is a little odd that Lesters's dad didn't..anyway it's too late now...or is it? she wants her mum dug up and cremated....now you can imagine this argument after a few too many drinks can't you?? That was just one of many issues bought up...it was an emotional evening and a few tears were shed but at the end of the night she was shooting pool with her brothers and all was well again....for now...;-)

It is chilly here..rainy chilly and overcast ....of course I love the refreshing change from the heat and humidity..not to mention that it gets you in the mood for the holidays...I haven't started Christmas shopping yet but I will soon trust me...;-) I did buy two boxes of English Christmas crackers..they aren't easy to find so when I see them I snap them up....

The atmosphere at work is better and I am glad that I took one for the team and agreed to the new schedule... LOL..at least it makes the working conditions better for everyone else and I am all about that...the office manager has made herself look like an idiot in my book ...evidently the Dr's asked her what all the fuss was about because they see that I am fine and my usual cheery self and that they don't know why she thought it was all going to be such a big deal....  :-P  I really should wear that devil costume for Halloween huh?

My car is going in the body shop today..finally...I will be glad when that's all over with...speaking of which i must get off of here and get showered I need to drop it off by 8...I am fighting this upper respito funk that is going around and really feel like just crawling back in bed and sleeping but I have a to do list a mile long as usual....

have a good hallo eve... ;-)

why me?

Good morning campers!

Has anyone else ever had this happen? Every time I log on to AOL it tells me my password is invalid and I have to keep changing it..it is driving me nuts! I have tried all the things AOL tech. told me to do but as I have their free service it wasn't a whole lot...so any tips would be greatly  appreciated...

Well I think I floored the Office manager with my joy over the schedule change! the look on her face was priceless and it led to her and her sidekick twittering behind closed doors for a good 20 minutes...ha you can't get rid of me that easy!!

The family are still in town...they have been shopping up a storm (the ladies) and golfing (the lads) and eating and drinking way too much (all of us)...;-)

It is chilly and raining here in the Sunshine state this morning and I am loving it..feels like it should this time of year...I have a few errands to run thismorning.. I finally got the insurance check for my fender bender..I will be out of pocket $500 but it could have been so much worse....the car goes in Tuesday for repairs and I get to drive a zippy little rental for a few days..I will be glad when my car is done I hate driving her in this state..yes my car is a her and her name is Bessie...LOL...I am hoping to share the Mexican food and margarita tradition with the family tonight....the girls have 3 kids and the youngest is only 18 months and may not stay with his grandparents..we aim to wear him out today and put him to bed early so we can all go out as this is my BIL's last night here....

I have over 300 alerts and I think I am just going to delete and start over..this whole password thing has be so frustrated...so if I haven't commented in your journal you know why....

have a great weekend...

Guess who??

watch the slideshow in the middle!!!!!!!!!!

All present and accounted for...

Good morning Campers!!

How are we all this fine morning? I see that AOL "found" the missing entries...well done you...NOT...;-)

We have family in town again..Lester's brother from the west coast and his sister and her partner and 3 kids from UK..the ladies are staying over at my FIL's as he has the 3 extra bedrooms and my BIL is here with us...we went out Friday night and over did it...imagine that..;-)..the boys golfed yesterday and are again this morning...this afternoon I imagine we will all get together and do something....the weather is just about perfect here at the moment..

Well I had another go around with the office bitch/manager...I knew that she would not be able to accept that she gave in and said I could keep my schedule so sure enough Friday afternoon after I had worked all last week to cover the front desk while someone was on vacation...she calls me in her office and says  that the Dr's and her talked and "they" meaning her decided that I had to switch my schedule after all...I was so mad that I could feel the tears coming so I told her I would think things over and get back to her after this weekend...well I have figured out a way that all this will actually work out to my advantage!! I will switch to Mondays and Thursdays...she has already told me that if I had things already scheduled on Thursdays then that was okay they would work around me.. so I will ask her that on the weeks that I already have plans on Thursdays if I can come in on Wednesdays and make up my hours....so really I will have the same schedule and then after the new year I will switch to Thursdays...and as this will be the day I work the front desk I can leave early...I got to thinking..work Monday have 2 days off work Thursday have 3 days off ain't so bad after all..and if I am going out of town for a weekend they will "accommodate' me as I was nice enough to switch my days when asked...LOL.. she thinks she won..I KNOW I did and everyone is happy...;-)

This entry is really boring is it not?? So I will leave you with some Gratitude's in my life...

1. Letting  go and letting god...

2..I am NOT hung over this morning...;-)

I'm waiting to see if AOL is full yet of still eating entries before I write another one....I see most of the missing ones from monday showed up...

Just me...

Good morning campers!

How are we all this fine Autumn morning?? I have my windows open as I type..yep you heard me correctly..windows open ..as in Air conditioner turned off..woo hoo! I can't believe it is only in the 60's this morning...this is what I dream of all summer...cool crisp mornings and sunny days...and yes I am off today to make the most of it..as soon as I am done on here I am going to get all my housework done and get outside and enjoy the fresh air..

It has been a rough couple of days for me..I don't like conflicts with people..I really don't ..even when you know that the other person is at fault it still hurts to be treated that way and no one likes to feel disliked or disrespected....also the tragedy of hubby's co worker has taken a toll on us all..I spent yesterday at the hospital with hubby and his co workers...the outpouring of love and support from those guys has been amazing...there was a uniformed sailor standing at his bedside at all times...official time of death was 10.15 PM last night but Todd was gone long before that..may he rest in peace.....seeing him hooked up to the ventilator bought back a rush of memories for me because the last time I saw my Mum alive she was hooked up to the same machines..the sounds from the machines and the smell in the room was exactly the same and it was all a little too much for me.... I did go to the chapel and have a little cry and pulled myself together...THEN on my way home I got into my first car accident ever!!  this car was coming off of the exit ramp at a high rate of speed and instead of slowing down and merging into traffic he pulled right in front of me forcing me into the other lane  and I hit a van...it could have been a lot worse..if I had slammed on my brakes I would have caused a major pile up so swerving slightly to the left seemed the lesser of 2 evils but my poor little Honda took a nasty bash and is looking pitiful...luckily the driver of the van I hit totally understood but the bastard who cut in front of me took off!!! We called the police just to get a report and he was totally cool and did not give me a ticket or anything (not that I was at fault) he said it happens all the time at that exit and he was just glad no one was hurt..so was I but that doesn't help my insurance claim ...I have a $500 deductible!! Hopefully I  can find someone to fix it without me being out of pocket... when I got home I was shaking like a leaf when  it finally hit me how lucky I had been...and not to mention my pride was hurt..I hated to call hubby and tell him what I did...he was totally calm though..I think after the last few days he has had a wake up call as to just how precious life is and a little fender bender is nothing in the big scheme of things....also we found out that instead of going to Japan next year his squadron is deploying to Iraq..right in the thick of it all..the base they will be stationed at has comes under attack almost daily...I honestly haven't processed this yet...it is just to much to comprehend...

Well that's enough from me..I need to get off here and get outside and enjoy this weather before it warms up too much....

have a great day...

Lots going on...

Hi guys,

I can't believe how long it's been since I sat down and shared what's going on in my life...and there is so much I feel like if I don't write some of this stuff down I will explode....

Where to start?? I dunno I am just gonna go for it and see what comes out so bare with me if my thoughts follow no pattern here...

My father in law's health is bad...very bad..he is now on oxygen..he needs surgery to unblock his carotid artery in his neck but he is not stable enough to do that so that could cause a clot at any time....he has emphysema and COPD..he is supposed to be on the oxygen round the clock but he refuses..he ordered himself a Pulse ox monitor on line and only takes the oxygen when his levels fall below 90..we were there the other day and his pulse ox was 86!!! He stumbled and fell and scraped his arms up pretty bad...he has Lymphoma in his lymph nodes in his groin....I am sure there is more that I am leaving out...god bless him he just keeps on going and going..oh yea he is VERY anaemic and they can't find the source of it so he needs a colonoscopy..last time he had one he had gastric bleeding and almost died....

Hubby's co worker collapsed with a brain aneurysm yesterday while watching the game on TV and is now brain dead..his family has been summoned and they are keeping a vigil at his bedside while deciding what organs to donate....hubby has gone to airport ot pick up his sister and nephew to come say their goodbyes...

My office manager has decided that I am her latest victim..she tried to change my schedule and give my hours to the new girl that has been there 2 weeks!!!! I stood up for myself today and she verbally attacked me.... I defended myself don't worry and my schedule remains as it always has been...;-) But the atmosphere is awful and she is trying to get the Dr's on her side...it's bloody pathetic....high school drama if you ask me...she doesn't like me  because I am not intimidated by her and see through her games..not to mention she doesn't like the fact that I was offered her job first but turned it down...

It has rained here on and off for a week..the yard is flooded..everyone is depressed and crabby...we have cabin fever I think..LOL..

Well I think that's about it...this may seem like a bit of a downer entry but I'm okay honestly..just felt like venting a little...when I think of the poor sailors family that is keeping vigil this evening I know I have little to complain about...

have a good week ...

British humour...;-)

Englishman:  "That your dog?"

Welshman:  "Yep."

Englishman:  "Mind if I speak to him?"

Welshman:  "Dog no talk."

Englishman: "Hey dog, how's it going?"

Dog:  "Doin' all right."

Welshman: (Look of shock!)

Englishman:  "Is this Welshman your owner?" (Pointing at the Welshman)

Dog:  "Yep."

Englishman:  "How's he treating you?"

Dog: "Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food and takes
me to the lake once a week to play."

Welshman: (Look of total disbelief)

Englishman:  "Mind if I talk to your horse?"

Welshman:  "Horse no talk."

Englishman:  "Hey horse, how's it going?"

Horse: "Cool."

Welshman: (Extreme look of shock!)

Englishman:  "Is this your owner?" (Pointing to the Welshman)

Horse:  "Yep."

Englishman:  "How's he treating you?"

Horse:  "Pretty good, thanks for asking, he rides me, brushes me down
often and keeps me in a lean-to to protect me from the weather."

Welshman: (Look of total amazement)

Englishman:  "Mind if I talk to your sheep?"

Welshman:  "Sheep lie.”

Yellow pages and Florida rooms..........

Good Morning Campers!

Seems a little clarification is needed.  ;-)

A Florida room is a glass room usually on the back of the house in the style of a Conservatory..for the Brits..or a glassed in porch for the Americans..here in Florida we refer to it as the Florida room or Sun room...we pretty much live in ours...it has heat and air conditioner and overlooks the pool..it is where my Computer is so you know I am out there all the time..;-) See above pic....

As for the yellow page incident..a little more complicated...My Mum and me did not get along very well during my early teenage years..in fact we fought like cats and dogs..and when I say fought I mean she used to beat the living daylights out of me and I used to try and hide from her...I used to lock myself in the bathroom and cuss her out from the safety of the bathroom only to have her break the door in!! This particular day we were shouting at each other over who knows what and she was chasing me through the kitchen..I made it to the back door when she cracked me over the head with the phone book and knocked me out...I fell down the back steps and ended up on the concrete flooor of the back porch....I was only out for a few seconds I guess...but it scared her...and she was scared of awhat my dad was going to say...funny thing is I can't remember what happened after that..I had an egg size lump on the top of my head and a headache but what happened between her, me and my dad I have no idea....just another crazy day in my crazy house....these days things would have been different but in my neighbourhood this was the norm..we all fought with our mums..we all got the daylight beat out of us and no one said a thing....I will admit however this was a bit extreme.... ;-)

Have a good thursday..it has stopped raining here at last!!
