Good Evening Campers.

I was not going to do an entry about this but what the hell..I am keeping it real right?

Some people think I have got too big for my boots. That I have no business complaining about my life because I have it so easy. I agree I have a pretty good life. I am grateful..I list my five all the time..I  know there are others far worse off than me..you don't hear me complain very often. I try to keep a positive attitude. I do believe you could count on one hand the amount of times I have bitched in my journal. But excuse me. This IS my journal and I really did have a rough time of it last week. For all my joking etc my feelings were hurt. I tried to make light of it all but it was horrid and if it hadn't have been I would not have felt the need to "run away" Apparently it is bothering some people that I have been getting a lot of comments in my Journal..trust me I get a lot more but I delete the negative ones.  ;-)  I made a conscious effort to comment more myself... and like I have said before you reap what you sow.

I am woman hear me roar!!

It appears I have done what many of you have dreamed of doing! Let me tell you I have been threatening to do that for years! I have to confess it felt bloody marvelous.. and it had the desired effect. ;-)

Yesterday was a great day. hubby and I walked the dog 3 miles. Then we showered and headed out for a bit of shopping and lunch. We tried to go to the grand opening of the new Publix near us but couldn't even find a parking spot. True beauty did go in and got the commemorative freecoffee mug and a free loaf of bread..;-) we BOTH dropped Ryan off at work and then strolled around Super Target. hubby got new tires for the Tundra and HE picked up Ryan at midnight... ;-)

Today is cold and windy..a good day for hanging out at home..and YES the dryer is fixed.

Explanation

Good morning campers.

I am going to explain myself. I did think about just letting it go but I am truly trying to keep it real so I shall tell you what happened although I have to say that it doesn't seem as bad as it did when it first happened.

Anyways...

Thursday morning. I smelt burning. We have had issues with our dryer...I could smell like this melting plastic kind of smell coming through the heating vents..the heater and the dryer and both in the garage (garage is attached to house for you brits)..I looked in the garage and the smell was worse out there...I checked around the house again and went back to the garage with the intent of getting the heating guys number off the unit as I thought it might be coming from the heater...that's when I saw the smoke coming from the dryer plug.. I quickly turned the breakers off...when the plug had cooled off I pulled it out the socket..it disintegrated in my hand..it had totally melted... Now I never leave the house with the dryer running if no one else is home but my daughter was in bed and I was thinking of going to the store..I dread to think what might have happened if I did...anyway I called hubby and he bought a guy from work over who is an electrician to check to see if it was just the dryer or anything else.. he said it was the dryer so off we went to home depot to get a new dryer cord and a new socket for the wall...now I have been telling hubby for months about the dryer socket on the wall being loose and that I have had to keep putting the plug back in etc...he is the worlds worst procrastinator when it comes to fixing things...so anyways we get back from the store.. I know that hubby might take a while so I take the wet clothes up to the Laundromat to dry them.. I get home just in time to take Ryan to the first of 3 dentist appointments...2 and a half hours later after stopping by to pick up Ryan's paycheck we are home.. I have not stopped all day..nothing to eat etc... I check Ryans hours against what I have written on the calendar because I think they haven't been paying him enough..they did it last time so this pay period I wrote everything down.. sure enough his hours are wrong..this leads to an argument between me and Ryan.. he does not want to say anything to his manager..who I think he has a crush on but anyway...hubby who is sitting on the computer playing hearts tells me..ME not my son who is yelling his head off at his MOTHER.. to shut up...that I am "Shouting"..I was not shouting.. yes I was loud.. I am loud period..and yes I would say my voice was louder than usual..but I assure you I was not shouting..you wanna here shouting?  LOL trust me I can shout really loud..hubby just likes to tell me I am shouting like my MOTHER just to irritate me..and it works..it is one of those stupid button pushers married people like to use..he also likes to put his hands over his ears or whistle to add to the irritation.. I find it so damn childish and it just really pisses me off which of course is the whole point.. well I lost it..I told my son and his father that I am sick of being taken advantage of and I was leaving..I needed to be alone and get away from it all....so hubby proceeds to SCREAM at me to "Fu%^ing leave and not come back" so I did. I went to the movies but nothing took my fancy so I went to Booksamillion..did some serious damage there.. took my books and my supper which I picked up at the mall..and an ice cold six pack.. and booked myself into a Hotel... with a whirlpool..and two huge beds and silence..and let me tell you it was bliss!! I ate my supper on the bed...<giggle>...drank my cold beers in my hot bubble bath and read my new book... the whirlpool tub was amazing and I kept topping it up...I had a good old cry...talked to myself..LOL and had me a grand old time...I also ignored my cell phone...hubby had to deal with it all.. which included getting up at 545 am to make sure Ryan was awake... ;-) I had a leisurely breakfast at the hotel and then came home.. the house was a pigsty..the beds weren't made etc but I didn't even care.. my 12 hours alone were just what Ineeded...and yes I did get an apology from both hubby and son...I heard later from true beauty that there was a lot of texting and phone calls going on to the effect of "have you heard from mum?" "where do you think she is?" "You think she's coming home?" LOL..I am glad I gave them something to think about..and I think hubby might think twice before he whistles or cover his ears again...

I am sure this all sounds petty and trivial but at the time I was really fed up.. I do everything for my family.. I take care of all the running around...the house, the dog,  all the finances etc etc no one ever has to worry about a thing..they just know I will do it..and usually I don't mind....I love taking care of everyone.. I only work 2 days a week and so I have the time...BUT don't take me for granted...plus Thursday was just awful..the thought of my house almost burning down terrifies me...

So that's my "running away" story. that's what we are calling it here in the Hatfield house..LOL "hey what were you doing Thursday..you know the night mum ran away" "oh Mum did you hear about so and so..oh that's right you weren't here you ran away"LOL.. leave it my wonderful family to find some humour in it all....

I am so far behind on alerts..if I haven't made it to you please forgive me..I've been too busy being a Drama Queen.... :-)

All is not well in the campground this morning. I just wrote a very long entry to explain all the crap that has been going on here including why I spent the night in a hotel Thursday night (alone) and AOL just cut me off. Not to mention all the dumb error messages I keep getting when I am trying to read your journals or comment.

 So if you haven't heard from me that's why. I am over it..no point in adding to my delightful mood by letting AOL get to me so I am out of here.

Thursday Morning

Good Morning Campers.

It is a little wet here in the tent this morning. It has been raining all night and is still chucking it down. I don't care. I don't have to drive over the bridge to work this morning...;-)

So..we have decided on which company to use for the Windows. This estimate came in $1300 less than the one we thought we were going with..the windows are the exact same ones and this is with an additional window. All other estimates forgot to include the window in the garage. I am feeling smug because this guy was my choice..hubby didn't even want to have yet another estimate but we are both glad we did. So in about 4-5 weeks we will have our new windows. Also replacing the fascia, gutters and soffit. then it's onto the Deck..that is a big project .. hubby is going to round up a few of his young studs..I mean sailors to help him out..  ;-) I shall be in charge of keeping them fed and supplying the ice cold beer.. of course they are welcome to bring their swimming trunks and go for a dip if they want to..wouldn't want them to get too hot and sweaty...;-)  Yes lads (Gaz and Ste) and ladies.. I will take pics....

Nothing much else to report... Ryan has 3 dentist appointments today.. one to take off his wires.. one to go get a check up and cleaning at his regular dentist and then back to have his wires put back on at the orthodontist... I shall take my book...

Good morning campers!

How is everyone?

Monday over with. I don't do Monday's..don't know why but I always feel fed up on a Monday morning driving to work. like a big sense of dread. Silly really I suppose but there you have it.

We have yet another Window company coming out today...every time we think we have made a decision someone else gives us another number..I told hubby that we have to decide after today..it's doing my head in. I want the windows in so we can have our alarm system installed then I will feel better about traveling again. We live so close to a lot of cool places.. I love going away for the weekend...so window guys again today... need to clean out the fish... do laundry... housework..oh the excitement of my days off... ;-)

I think my sister, Di and their partners will be coming over in June for their 40th...I can't wait. it's been a while since we had anyone come stay with us and I miss it. there is nothing I like more than a houseful,  cooking, drinking , hanging out at the pool..laughing and reminiscing...I love entertaining...

Well I obviously don't have a whole lot to talk about as I am rambling on about nothing...

Sunday morning

Good Morning Campers.

How is everyone? We are all fine here in my neck of the woods. I had a great day out yesterday with the girls. We ate, drank, and shopped..what more could you ask for? FIL was feeling better last night so we took him out to dinner at Carrabas Italian Restaurant. The food was delish as usual and they sang Happy Birthday to pops so he was happy. He is 75 today. Happy birthday!! can't imagine being 3/4 of a century old!

It is a beautiful morning here..sunny and cool. As soon as I am done on here I am going to get out and enjoy this day. Hubby was a good boy while I was gone and took out all the windows in the Florida room and cleaned them for me. He also gave Cadet a much needed bath. hmmm... wonder if it's anything to do with the fact he is golfing today and tomorrow?? ;-)

Good Morning Campers!

How is everyone this morning? I hope all our UK friends are safe this morning after the terrible hurricane force winds over there yesterday. We sure are seeing some strange weather around the world.I just saw a special on the weather channel over here about the terrible flash flood a couple of years ago in Bosworth on the coast in UK.. I couldn't believe it! I remember my dad telling me about it though. the weather here in Florida this morning is pretty chilly 49F or 9c for Phil ;-)

A random thought here..I know you all read about the tragic death of that lady Jennifer from drinking too much water trying to win an X box for her kids..well did you happen to notice how much she looks like the mother of the boy that has been missing for 4 years that was just reunited with his parents? uncanny...

I just booked tickets to go see the Celtic Women...I love their magical voices.. I am so excited.. it's on the 17th of Feb. So it can be our valentines day treat. Every time I see them on TV I am mesmerized..and they bring me to tears when they sing Danny Boy..which was one of the songs at my Mums funeral.

Can't  believe it's the weekend again already..it's my FIL's 75th birthday on Sunday so we are taking him out for dinner sat. night if he is up to it..he has bronchitis..bless him. I am going to St Augustine tomorrow with Jen and her friends from Tallahassee..this is the trip that was cancelled before Christmas..should be a fun day out...

I did rest yesterday..in between catching up on the laundry and cleaning the house..today I am going to the base to do a big grocery shop.. I don't go on base too much...it's always a bit crowded and about 10 miles from here but the prices are worth it. I usually do a big shop there once a month and then run to the local store in between.

Well I'd best be getting off here or I will never make it..I am all caught up on my alerts but I keep getting that little "ding"... you know the one I'm talking about..the one we all miss so much when it's not there... ;-)

Good Morning Campers!

I am feeling so much better this morning. I appreciate the kind comments and well wishes. I rested all day yesterday.. something that is very difficult for me to do but I realized that the reason I did not get over the first bout of this is because I over did it... so I took my meds, drank plenty of juice and rested and guess what? hubby made me grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner...he's a keeper... ;-)

I haven't really done an entry since the weekend so let's re cap.

Saturday hubby and I went to the Flea market (boot sale) in St Augustine.. we hadn't been to this one before..it was fun.there were some sights to be seen..they sell beer at this one and you would be shocked at the amount of people chugging on beer cans at 10.30 in the morning..and most of them women too..LOL we wondered up and down the aisles and people watched..then we stopped at the outlets on the way home and did a little shopping.. I went to the Yankee Candle outlet and got 2 full size jar candles for $20..bargain...I kept coughing all day but had no idea of what was to come...Sunday was a beautiful day.. hubby golfed in the morning and I did laundry etc.. in the afternoon I started to feel like crap and when I woke up Monday morning I had a full blown cold..but I had to work as we only had the one MA there.. so I soldiered on all day...as I said the Dr gave me a RX for a Z pak..I stopped at the pharmacy to pick that up and then went home..as soon as I pulled up in the driveway and saw hubby standing there I lost it..you know how when you have been holding in tears all day? that's how bad I felt..I  was pitiful!!! poor Ryan saw me crying and thought something bad had happened..then when he saw it was me sick he gave me a hug and a kiss on the forehead..this from my 6' 5" son..you know I was looking bad..;-) hubby got me a hot water bottle because my back was hurting from coughing so much..then I crashed...

The only good thing I can say about being sick is that you feel so happy when you finally feel better if that makes any sense..  and that I am so grateful that I have such a kind hubby..and that he was home to be able to help...

Well this is about as boring of an entry that I have ever wrote.. I am sorry to waffle on so much about myself...but I truly feel better this morning and almost back to normal.. unfortunately I have to go to work today..but after today I have a nice 4 day weekend to totally recuperate...

Good Morning Campers.

I am sick AGAIN. Not sure if this is a new cold, the same cold or what the hell it is but I am miserable. Stuffy nose, sore throat, coughing, body aches..blah blah blah. saw the Dr. at work yesterday..yes we were open and yes I worked all 10 hours of my shift..he prescribed me a "Z" pak and I am starting to feel human again. I slept 11 hours last night. and now i am back to bed with my hot water bottle and my book...what I really want is someone to make me some Tomato soup and toast and bring me a comic book...ahhh childhood memories...

saturday morning and the devils playground

Good morning Campers!

How are we all this Saturday morning? Seems like a few of us have the after Christmas.. no sign of spring..what to do with ourselves.. blues. Not hard to understand really after the hustle and bustle of the holidays and all the preparations and socializing...nothing to look forward to except the cold dark days of winter. One of the reasons I love living in Florida...on our coldest days we can still enjoy being outside...I am definitely going to take advantage of that today.

The first estimate we got on the windows is probably the one we will go with. We have had higher and lower estimates but they were the most professional company and their warranty and professionalism stood out. So in about 4-6 weeks we should have new windows. just in time for the sweltering summer. I am hoping these energy star windows will lower my electricity bills.

Nothing much else going on.. we went out for our usual Friday night Mexican dinner last night..it was excellent as usual...

I did watch an absolutely fascinating documentary about Amish Teenagers. They have this tradition called Rumspringa..when the Amish turn 16..both male and female they have the chance to experience "Rumspringa"..a sort of rite of passage.. they are allowed to experiment with drugs, alcohol, sex, smoking, music, partying, driving, etc etc then they have to make the decision whether of not to join the church. if they choose to join they are then baptized into the church. there is no "time" limit on this..they can "Rumspringa" as long as they need to. Some youths leave home. Some do this while living in the family home.the family does not turn their back on them if they choose not to join the church. however if one decides to be baptized into the church and then leaves they are shut out completely. I found it fascinating.90% of the teenagers give up their new found "modern" ways and return to be baptized into the community. the hardest thing they said to give up was driving. ;-)

Good Morning Campers!

After bragging about our beautiful Florida weather it has turned chilly again..sorry Vicky..I told you to bring shorts to Disney... :-( Now you know I love the cold weather so I am not really complaining...although I hate to hide my pretty toe job in socks... LOL

Work was crazy yesterday..we saw 51 patients..a lot of colds and sinusitis going around.. I was trying to be diligent with my hand washing etc.. I don't want this crap back again.. I am still coughing from Christmas....it was the first time our waiting room has ever been full! It was fun..busy but fun...we are still trying to get into some sort of routine with all these new folks.. the new office manager is okay BUT I can for see some issues...I shan't bore you all with work stuff but just remember I predicted this when all hell breaks loose...

We are getting estimates this week for new windows.. I am so excited.. ours are so old..half of them don't open properly..and they are not airtight.. I want double insulated windows with screens so I can air this house out.. for my fellow Brits the windows over here all have screens over them to keep the bugs out..my kids had a fit in Uk because of all the flies coming in the open windows...LOL...anyone know anything about windows? At least hubby will be here when we get the estimates.. I always feel they try to "snow" over the women...we have 18 windows to have installed...gulp...

I am planning on doing some heavy duty cleaning here today.. it's too cold to be outside..and I haven't got Christmas shopping as an excuse to go to the mall ;-) so I thought I would be productive and give the house a good going over...

1.  What is the one kitchen gadget you couldn't live without?  My kitchen scissors..I go crazy with not being able to open things..I use these daily...

8.  Chinese or Indian and why?  BOTH  I love both types of food, could never choose between the two.....although as I don't get Indian as much over here I would probably go with a good onion bahji, poppadoms, Chicken tikka Marsala and naan bread.....drool...

Sunday Morning

Good Morning campers!

It is a gorgeous morning here in sunny Florida.. the weather seems to be crazy all up the east coast..forcing Mother nature into premature spring.. I have seen pics of crocuses popping up through the snow...all I know is it is beautiful here..supposed to be in the 80's today..but without the humidity of summer..I plan on spending sometime outside today..possibly a read by the pool?? Ah the life.... ;-)

Hubby is playing golf.. the kids are sleeping..it's just me and J Land this morning...we had a quiet Saturday.. hubby washed and waxed my car..it looks pretty now...I puttered around the house..went to the grocery store..we had a huge salad for supper with grilled chicken panini sandwiches..Friday night we went to our usual Mexican hang out.. it was so delish..then stopped by the bar and watched some kareoke.. too funny...

Nothing much going on here and that is just fine by me..I hope you are all having a great weekend..I will be back later.. I found a survey that is calling my name...LOL..

Good Morning Campers!!!

How are we all on this Friday morning?? I have just spent a good half hour cleaning out the deep freezer in the garage.. OMG we had some dinosaur meat in there I swear!! I am off to BJ's warehouse today to stock up. Cleaned out the cabinets and the fridge/freezer in the kitchen too. The New Year always finds me in the mood for cleaning and organizing.

Thanks for the wonderful comments about my family..yes I am truly blessed..and yes hubby is good looking...LOL.. you should have seen him when he was younger..I shall have to dig out a picture of him from back in the day...

No real plans this weekend..I am sure we will get together with the gang tonight..it appears I am back "in".. ha! please rest assured I let them know that my feelings were hurt that I wasn't included in their plans over the summer..come to find out that they haven't really been getting together so much.. I guess my hubby is the glue that holds us all together..so all is forgiven and we are enjoying spending time with each other again...these are true friends really and I can't be mad at them for too long...better to say what you're feeling and get it over with...seems we just all got too "busy" and kept saying "I must call so and so" well hubby is always Mr. social so as soon as he got back he was on the phone to everyone...hate it when he's right but he did tell me all you got to do is pick up the phone..smart arse... :-)

I am inspired by everyone's determination to lose weight.. I could stand to drop a few pounds myself..quite a few in fact... so rather than make any resolutions as such I have put together some of my thoughts and goals for 2007...

get back to the Library and stop buying books!!!

have more patience..and get control of my moods...

open up to hubby more..stop bottling it all up only to erupt like a crazy woman...

make a housekeeping schedule..changing the sheets on Saturdays..dust on Tuesday etc...my mum had certain days when she did certain things and it worked..e.g Mondays was ironing day.. I used to laugh at her and her routines but there is a lot to be said for them.. come to think when did Ryan last strip his bed... ewww!! see what I mean??

Be accountable for spending... I want to write down everything that I spend for a month... we are blessed enough not to have to count pennies anymore but I think I waste too much money...I could take my lunch to work for example...

meet some J landers...

celebrate my sister and Di's 40th birthday with them...if not over here then either NYC or over in UK...

Good Morning Campers!

Seems many of us are suffering from the post holiday blues except Lisa Jo who couldn't wait for it all to over... ;-) It sure is quiet in J Land.

I guess I was just worn out from being sick and then all the festivities but I am feeling much better this morning. Good thing as I am off to work for the first time in 2 weeks...to be honest I am ready...need to get back to normal. Although normal at the office will be different from now on as we have 3 new faces coming in!! The new office manager and the 2 part time MA's they hired. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. It sure is going to be hard to train all these new folks.By the way Stacy's dad is still with us. She drove him to the Douglas Anderson cancer center in Orlando and it seems they have been able to buy him some more time. Also he does not have a tumour in his abdomen as he was told here. Many many thanks for the prayers.

We have been busy around here. We bought some huge storage cupboards for the garage and had a good clean out in there. It looks very tidy and organized. The house is clean and all signs of Christmas have been put away till next time. I always find something I have forgotten though..does anyone else do that? This year it was the Santa signs outside. They have been put away now though. We always like to see who will be the last person in our neighbourhood to take all the stuff down..some have been known to leave their Christmas lights up outside all year..isn't that a Country and western song?? LOL

I am sorry I haven't commented much lately.. I was on a roll there for a while but the last few days I have just had a case of the lazyightess.. I will visit soon though I promise..I have been reading just too lazy to comment..shame on me! ;-)

Good morning campers.

First entry of 2007.

Should have done one yesterday but we were complete couch potatoes all day. must have been something to do with the partying the night before. ;-) Did not get a lot of sleep. the party was pretty low key but fun all the same. the boat ride was a no go because of rain and high winds. But we did let off some fireworks from the end of the dock.

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy new Years eve.

I will be back later to write a proper entry. Still not feeling 100%.
