Hi there Campers..;-
As you all know I don't like cats and therefore don't know a lot about them but there is this cat that I have been hearing for the past week or so that sounds like it is in pain. Almost like it's crying. It's driving me nuts! Even thought I don't like cats I don't like to think of anything suffering..maybe it's stuck somewhere? or in labour?? it's this whiny meow..really pitiful..it's gets louder and then kind of dies off.
If you were the cats owner wouldn't you be out looking? I have driven around trying to see where the sound is coming from but can't find it....

You've really worried me now. I would be out there walking, knocking on doors and tracking it down. I can't bear the thought of an animal suffering.
Linda.
He's probably in heat. The meow you just described is a cat in heat...it can last up to two weeks at a time...but over all can go on for a month (there's normally a few days to a week break). Hopefully he or she will go off and find a home that'll have him spayed or neutered!
That cat's in HEAT. If you find it, take it to someone else's neighborhood and drop it off. If you think it sounds bad now, wait until she actually starts doing the nasty! Woooo-DOGGIES. And if you're REALLY lucky, she'll draw more than one mail and they'll all have to fight each other for the privilege (also very loud). There's a reason she's outside. The people where she lives finally had enough and put her out. When I lived in an apartment with a roommate who had a cat, we put her out on the balcony at night so we could sleep at night.
It does sound like a cat in heat. Hopefully it isn't an ill or abandoned cat. Hope you figure out the mystery soon!

Usually, if a cat is hurt, it will find somewhere quiet where it won't be disturbed. Check behind sheds etc.
Hope you find it. B. x
I'm not a cat lover either, but I sure do hope this cat is not suffering. OMG, I could not handle the news of you finding a dead cat. I hope all teh other comments are corect and it's in heat. YUK, but better of the two choices. :)

sounds like it's in heat to me........ and the owner probably put it out because they couldn't stand the noise. Sorry... but that is an awful sound.

I love my cats and yes I would be looking for it. Have you tried calling animal controll? If you find the cat you can take it to the animal shelter and they can scan it to see if it is chipped. They will also be able to help the cat.

I am not a cat lover and I don't know to much about them. I hope it's ok.
Don't like cats but like you don't like anything to suffer either so good luck locating it.

..i'd say the same as d...sounds like the mating call...its so loud! ...I've read about people throwing buckets of water over cats when they were calling out like that! ( lol DON'T DO IT THOUGH)! - i'm an animal lover and have two cats of my own. If it's not the mating screech then I do hope the cat gets found and cared for. Millie :)
my sisters cat does the same thing it goes on on and on 24 hours a day.Drives her mad!beckie.xx
Perhaps it's in someone's garage but I agree if I was the owner I would be out looking.
