Christmas Day 2006

Good Morning Campers.

Christmas Day 2006 re-cap.

Rachel had set my alarm to go off on my cell phone at 7am..the little minx! She may be 21 but she is a big kid at heart. Hubby and I got up got the coffee going, lit the Christmas tree lights and waited for the "kids" to come out. In about 10 minutes 3 months of shopping and planning were over..LOL.. Ryan got his new computer, some clothes, a game for his X box, some silver dog tags, a Jaguar football jersey, a watch,and various other odds and ends, True Beauty got her jewelry replaced that was stolen this past summer, two bracelets and two rings, A dooney and bourke purse, a jacket, apple bottom jeans, a dvd player for her car, a Chi hairstraightner, perfume, more clothes and odds and ends. Hubby got a leather jacket, jeans, golf shirts, a $100 gift certificate to Edwin watts, a Water pik (lol) a golf package that includes 6 rounds of golf, a golf shirt and 2 professional lessons and the usual odd and ends. I got a Printing dock for my digital camera, 2 new purses, (not dooneys lol) a new hair dryer, slippers, gift certificates to bookstore and nail place,perfume, cookbook, neck massager, and candles. In our stockings we got scratch off tickets and True beauty won $25..actually we all won something.

Believe it or not my cold came back!! I could not believe it when I woke up yesterday and my nose was like a faucet..just drip drip drip..my head ached and I was coughing up my other lung!! This cold is the weirdest I have ever had.. I was totally feeling fine Christmas eve...anyways I took one for the team and kept my game face on and cooked Breakfast..bacon and eggs..then the kids were on the phones to their friends and playing video games and just hanging while I prepared the Christmas lunch. We had the following:

Roast Turkey, Roast Potatoes,Swede, Cabbage, Corn, Dressing, Cauliflower cheese, Cranberry sauce, Hot rolls and Turkey Gravy. We had champagne with dinner and we let Ryan do the honours.. the cork hit the ceiling but managed to miss the skylights..thank you god... LOL.. after dinner the men cleaned up..Rachel went to her boyfriends house and hubby and I napped on the couch.. I woke up feeling even worse...total head cold from hell.. felt bad as we were supposed to go round some friends for dessert but I didn't want to spread my germs..so we had dessert here.. hubby and I had Christmas pudding with cream and Ryan had Apple pie and Vanilla Ice cream. he went round his friends for a little while and hubby and I finally called it a night around 10 pm. We had the usual phone call to UK.. my poor old dad seems to have the same cold I have ..bless him..everyone was round my brothers house so I got speak to everyone...as usual I got a bit teary when I hung up...there is no place like home for the holidays and although I am "home" my heart is always with them....

In spite of being under the weather it was a lovely Christmas. I am always a little sad when it's all over but I do look forward to the the new year and the chance to start over as they say..a clean slate and all that. I am enjoying reading about everyone else's day..it feels like walking through the neighbourhood peeking in the windows of life.
