In response to several comments to the Jilted post I am writing our "love story".. this one is especially for my new friend Shermeen ;-)

Short version of Lynda and Lester....part one...
We started dating when he was 18 and I was 15 . We got engaged on my 17th birthday..were supposed to be married June 21st 1980 when I would have been 18. You know what happened there....we were still so much in love and even though he had commited the worst of the worst sins in a relationship I did not look at it like that.. I was so young and so naive..all I wanted was him. My parents could not understand and so I moved out to live with him.. we had many problems..we broke up a lot.. eventually I moved out and was living in a house with a bunch of people..him and I were still seeing each other though. Well, he decided to join the USN after a visit to USA to see his older brother who was already in the service. (their dad is American, he married a lady from UK when he was stationed over there, so all the kids had dual passports.) So Lester joined the navy and left in Feb 1983. he called me from flight school in Pensacola and asked me to marry him and come over here. At first I said no because I thought he was just lonely and homesick and missing me. But he kept on and on and he said he had some leave coming up and wanted us to marry then. I said yes. We had 3 weeks to arrange the wedding. I told my parents who were not too thrilled but at this point I think they knew that pretty much nothing could keep me and Les apart so they resigned themselves to it. They were not happy about me moving 3000 miles away though..I was only just 21. So he came home 3 weeks later and we got married. I moved in with his parents because the environment I was living in was not so good for a married woman..and we thought I would be joining him in USA soon. That was not the case. I applied for my visa to reside in the USA. I failed the first medical. I had whooping cough as a child and have terribly scarred lungs.. I had to explain and document the state of my chest xray. I eventually cleared all the requirements and he came home on leave in Nov. 1983 and I went back with him. We had nothing but $500 in out pockets...

wow, we were about the same age when we met the ones we love. and the date you were supposed to get married, June 21st, that's my birthday. though i was born in 1985. And I wanna move to the USA, northeast Florida to be exact. Any tips on how you went about getting your visa would be happily received!
Its such a big step leaving your family and friends behind and moving to a new place where you only know one person! But I know what love is and what it can make you do. And my love wasn't bound by geography!
Enjoying the story so far, can't wait to read more!
