I am off the pity pot. Today is a new day and a new attitude. Murphy has left the building.. ;-)
Worked yesterday.. it was a nice productive day.. saw some interesting patients..including a strung out addict who was after some methadone... sad sad sad..... day went by fast.. had a nice lunch out with my co workers..vented a little about my weekend which surprised them I am sure because I am usually pretty private... came home and vegged out..
Obviously I did not grow up celebrating 4th July..it has never been a "real" holiday to me but hey when in Rome do as the Romans right?? And my kids are yanks so we celebrate all American Holidays but it's weird because I don't have any memories or traditions to carry over from my childhood.. the only true holidays I remember from childhood are Easter and Christmas.. and trust me I go all out for Christmas ;-) But all the others, Memorial Day, 4th July, Labour Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving.. they are still new to me after 22 years.... weird huh?? So anyway we will celebrate the 4th today in our own little way.. normally we would be either throwing a barbecue with fireworks or going to one but no one has invited us this year so it's just me and the kids.. I have got Crab Legs and Shrimp.. we are kinda burned out on the burger and hot dogs.. so we are going to have a little seafood feast tonight and may drive to see the fireworks... and I am totally happy with that.. I intend to lay by the pool today and top up my rapidly fading tan... ;-)
I hope you all have a safe and Happy 4th Of July whatever you may be doing.. I am truly grateful to be living in this wonderful country and for the opportunities it has given me.. I may not be American but I appreciate our freedom and the troops who are out their defending that right, including my own hubby.. I sure do miss him...
Peace, Love and Fireworks!!!!

Lying by the pool sounds like a great idea to me!
Glad you had a good day at work....although working with addicts must be difficult. I remember when I had a Saturday job in the local chemists and all the addicts would be lined up outside waiting on their methadone. Wasn't very nice to see.
Hope you enjoy your seafood - I've never tasted crab or shrimp, how unexciting am I?!
Enjoy the rest of the day, however you celebrate it.
Big hugs,
Thanks for visiting my journal. Hope you have a good 4th too. I really just like having a long weekend off --regardless of the holiday.

Have a wonderful day today!!!
Happy 4th of July! I will say from the girl who grew up in the Heart of the US and always doing something on the 4th, it's odd to be in a foreign country that in the big picture could care less what today is for us American's! At least we're on a US Army Base and they're throwing a party and will end the night with Fireworks!
Glad you had a good day at work and also pleased Murphy has left your home ~ lol ~ It must seem odd being in a Country and joining in their celebrations ~ when you never celebrated them as a child ~ but I hope you have a lovely day ~ and enjoy the 4th with your children ~ Crab Legs and Shrimps sound lovely and laying by the pool sound like heaven to me ~ Ally
That's so cool you can celebrate holidays here that you havent before! I love the idea of the seafood, we are getting tired of the usual hotdog/hamburgers too ! Tonight we are having country style ribs! nice change and they were on sale!
Enjoy your day!
hugs,
Ellen
i hope you have a wonderful day today my friend.

Hello! This is my first visit to you blog. Thanks for stopping by mine!
My girls have become extremely good friends with Riccardo, an Italian exchange student who has been here since August. He's leaving tomorrow to go back to Italy and there's alot of tears here too. He doesn't want to go home either, but his mom cries everyday (she really misses him) and he has one more year of High School in Italy (they go for 4 years where we only go for 4)
That has given us the idea to be a host family too (Riccardo didn't stay with us) We have Monica coming in August to stay with us for a while. She is 17 and from Columbia.
You mentioned your daughter is 21 (and wow, that boyfriend of hers sounds SCARY) How old is your son? I have three kids....daughter 17 (almost 18) daughter 15 and son, almost 12. It must be so hard to keep your family together with your husband away.
Anyway, hope you have a great 4th and I will be back to check in with you again!

Hi, I did wonder whether July 4th had any special meaning for you. It must be strange even after so long. Happy 4th July anyway! :o)

Hooray, Independence from King George! Well, I suppose that is why you don't celebrate the 4th. You do have Wimbledon to celebrate however LOL. Have a good Tuesday.

Seafood over hamburgers and hot dogs any day! Sounds lovely! Yummmmm. We Americans do a lot of celebrating don't we?
New babies are so fun. Especially when you can hand them back to their mother!
