Good Morning Campers!
So it's Wednesday. This week has sucked so far and I am soooooooooo ready for the upcoming 2nd annual ladies retreat to the beach house....woo hoo!
Monday...
I cover the front desk for the receptionist on Mondays... I get there..log on to the computer..get my stuff organized open the cash drawer ..count my cash...$80...count it again because it's Monday morning after all..still $80..I call one of the other girls over and ask her to count it..she confirms $80..so we are $20 short... I have her initial and I initial... I know that world war 3 will occur when the office manager gets back from vacation because this is the second time this has happened.. (they think it's the receptionist) last time it was $100...all I know is I come in open the drawer and the money is short other than that I can't say who or what happened to it ... <sigh>..we have a busy day..at the end of the day one of the other receptionists checks over the money to see if she can find the $20..we discover a whole host of other mistakes..one of which is the credit card machine was not closed out Friday evening...big old mess to be sorted.... after a 12 hour day came home ate ..went to sleep...
Tuesday
Get up..drive to base return Ryan's jeans that were too tight..(only 2 sizes too big as opposed to 3 LOL).. pick up the booze for the weekend...;-).. come home wake Ryan up take him to finish school shopping...go to lunch...cell phone rings..office manager...rut ro...I was right...world war three....no ma'am I don't want to discuss this on my cell phone when I am on my day off and trying to spend time with my son and everyone can hear me..so I step outside get the quick version of it and go back in to eat...cell phone rings again...back outside..it's hubby..FIL has been rushed to ER..blood pressure dropped after he had an outpatient biopsy on a mass on his thyroid...call my buddies at the hospital..his BP was 84/36!!! they think he had a vasovagal (near fainting) reaction after the biopsy...I take Ryan home..finish laundry..clean house...make supper..hubby comes in from hospital..eats .. changes out of uniform and we all go back up to hospital...FIL is still in one of the ER bays...no beds available for admission but he is being admitted...his BP was 66/22 -94/44 when I was there..they were pumping him with fluids but he was losing them out the other end as fast as they put them in...he had a MRI and CT scan and when I left last night they were waiting on the results of those..they had ordered a cardiac work up for today too....get home..3 messages from my co workers.... bottom line is no one is happy...the "old girls" have issues with the "new girls" that came in and are now basically trying to take over...I am not worried..I don't have to work..I work because I want to and if at any time this gets to be too much of a hassle I will leave...but the others girls..this is how they support themselves...they need this job and it just sucks that they are unhappy..the new office manager has bought in 3 of her friends and ever since it has turned into this gossip ridden "our way is better than yours" bitch fest! I try to just go in and do my job and have a good time...I love my job..it's all this BS I hate..... <sigh>
Today I work so therefore I get to go in and deal with all the drama... oh joy!!
Did I mention we are going to the Beach House this weekend?? LOL..I cannot wait..I wrote about it last year...we had such a blast that we decided to do it every year..have an end of summer...kids going back to school celebration!!! this is a different beach house then the one I usually talk about..this one is at Jacksonville beach...it's the one one of my old co workers family owns..there are 6 of us ladies going..I am driving down Friday morning and leaving Sunday afternoon..it will be a total chick weekend..lots of foo foo drinks..lots of junk food..lots of gossip..sunbathing....walks on the beach.....can you say bliss??
Well I need to get off here and get showered and ready for work...please keep my FIL in your thoughts today..bless him...

When theres money around in a job,I would have thought it would be sign out sing in, when differant people use the same float as I call it,or petty cash whatever.I would never take over an office or a desk unless I had a witness to account for the balanc ebeing correct before I started or finished work.$20 dollars might not seem a lot of money,but it could have been much more.Suspicion is then left on everyone who has access to it.Which doesn't lead to a very nice enviroment to work in.I would have thought too if it has happened once before more the fool who is in charge for letting things be so slip shod...I hope they catch the culprit if there is one and the money doesn't turn up somewhere else.I couldn't work under them circumstances with a settled mind.Nor could I work alongside BS either.You must realy love your job,to put up with all this.Have a great time at the beach hut.Hope the weather is good.Have a blast.Sounds you need one.Take Care GodBless Kath

you know, i HATe that kind of drama at work also. The way to do things is how your boss TELLS you to do it. there. solves everything. right? lol WRONG!

Oh, I don't envy you all the drama of work. I am glad when I hear stories like this that I work all by myself for the most part! That beach weekend away sounds like it will be a real blast! Lucky you! I hope you will fill us all in on it when you get back!!!

Oh Lyn, what a mixed bag your entry for today is! First I hope your FIL has/will improve. As for the money going missing, I can only echo what the others have said about signing it off with someone else in the department, it's a terrible thing to have to do though. I work in an office with 8 others and I'm pleased to say we ALL get along really well together, thankfully! Like you, I don't have to work, I could have retired two years ago but it's such a good job (hours and money wise!) that I decided to stay on. Hope your weekend goes well, I notice we didn't all get an invite, lol!! Never mind, I'm sure there'll be some tales for you to tell (perhaps not all of them!) and photos to show us. haha that sounds like my workplace to a T!! Ive only seen my new boss twice but she is the type of girl who will leave notes on the wall saying 'the tills have too any mistakes, it will come out of your wages, blah blah blah' instead of pulling the person aside and offering a bit of training or something.I hate that, shes never there so its no surprise all the mistakes that have been made.GRRRR!! happy hump day to you.Beckie xx

I am so sorry to hear about FIL... watching anyone suffer is hard enough, much less someone you love.
Sorry about work drama. Seems like that always happens in "girl" dominated environments. One thing I have learned since coming to know the Lord is to just let things go. (kinda like what you were saying) People don't realize that they contribute to drama and that drama is unneccessary! So what if we do it Sallys way? Maybe shes right, maybe shes wrong... just get things done! Oh well.
I do hope you enjoy your weekend. But I have a favor to ask of you which I think i will just email.

After all that I would say the beach house sounds like bliss. Whatever happened to morals. Any other place is cash kept coming up missing someone would be out of a job. I really don't think a new office manager should be allowed to bring her buddy system of coworker with her on the job. Keeping your FIL in my prayers on the smoke! (Hugs) Indigo

I know how WOMEN can be in a office. We have only four women working here and sometimes you would think we all hated each other. I try to stay out of their way ~ I find myself being friends with the guys more than the women. I just can't click with two of them. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
