sad news

This is the son of a one of my hubby's comrades. They used to be stationed with us and my daughter and him are the same age. He lost his uncle who was also one of my hubby's colleagues in a helicopter crash 12 years ago. This family has paid such a price for our freedom. I know the print is hard to read but the photo is beautiful.. he died 13 days before his 21st birthday. RIP Kev...

PFC Kevin Ellenburg, son of CMC Kenny Ellenburg.  Kevin was killed in an IED related incident while driving a Bradley in Iraq just 13 days before reaching his 21st birthday. Kevin is the youngest son of CMC Kenny Ellenburg and his ex wife Julie Ellenburg.

This is so sad.  Too many of your and our young men are being killed over there.
Haven't been able to leave comments before today as our AOL was not working properly.  DH has it fixed now, so don't think I was ignoring your posts, as I wasn't.  It was taking me several hours every morning just to post my own blog, never mind read and comment on others.  Would you like me to privately e-mail you some Thanksgiving recipes?

Oh gosh, that's just so awful. He was so young. It hardly seems right and I couldn't imagine being as brave as him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the many brave soldiers still not home.

Oh, that is so sad.  How devastating for that family, we are truly lucky to have brave men like that willing to give their lives for our freedom.  I will think of him (and all the fallen soldiers) the next time I feel like complaining about some silly little thing going wrong in my life.  At least I have my life AND my freedom due to all the men present and past that devote their life to the armed forces.
