September 11th 2001.
I was on the phone with my dad in England. I had the TV on in the back ground and something caught my attention.. I don't know what...it was then I saw the burning tower..I told my Dad to turn on the TV in england..they don't normally have it on during the day.. I said "dad are you seeing what I am seeing?" he said " oh my love I think I am' he cried out for my Mum to come look..then we were all on the phone together in silence as we both watched the 2nd plane fly into the building...we were in complete and utter shock...we spoke a little more..me and my Mum were crying and my Dad was saying this was going to change our lives forever..they were so worried for me being over here..for Lester as a service member...so many thoughts rushing through our heads...we hung up and I just sat glued to the TV..Lester was playing golf on base.. he called me and said they had sounded the alarm on base and announced for everyone to return to the clubhouse..he had no idea what was going on..they NEVER sound the alarms on base..it was then he saw what was happening...as you can imagine it was chaos on base...he made a quick call to me and then had to report to his command... the base was on lock down..he couldn't leave I couldn't go to him.. I was worried for the kids... he eventually came home and the kids and he and I just sat with the rest of the country and watched in horror. I will never forget those feelings..it was the first time I had ever felt like that.. I cannot even put in to words how I felt...but I know I was proud that my husband was a part of the Military and that he would get to do his part...he has served in Iraq twice since 911... the support we were given was amazing..the yellow ribbons in our neighbourhood..and at my job...strangers hugging me.. I have never been more proud...and I still am..today IS a special day but every day is a reminder in my house....
God Bless each and every one of our troops still fighting the fight...God Bless everyone who lost a family member or friend due to 911... RIP to ALL those who perished.... you will never be forgotten...

WELL SAID, Beckie x
Yes, you do have a special place as a military wife... for it is our men and women in the military who are fighting the battles for us each day who keep this country strong.

My Hubby was in the field on 9/11. I just knew that he would be leaving for war once again. I was right. He deployed 2 weeks later.

God Bless each and everyone of our troops for what they do for us all ~ 9/11 such a sad day to remember but one we must never and can never forget ~ Ally x
I remember listening to the radio just after dropping kids off for school when they annouce the 1st plane hit. I drove fast to my parents and was watching tv when I saw the 2nd plane hit. That was one of those days I think stick with you forever. Those people and that day will never be forgotten and rightly so. Hugggs, Robin
Beautiful rememberance hon! I was and still am a resident in NY state. I can't tell you the fear having something like this strike so close to home. Definitely makes you aware of your own mortality. (Hugs) Indigo
This memoir gave me chills, very very true about all our reactions, shock and silence.
I was at work watching the second plane hit.
my sister was flying out of logan that same day , i was in a panic.
luckly she had a late flight and wasnt in one of those planes.
God bless all who died in that tradegy.
Gaz xx
Amen!

Being that one of the planes originated from here, I knew of a few people on that flight--not personally, but just passing by aquaintances...I was still in college and that day, campus was completely silent. We couldn't even work.
God Bless those lost.
God bless the children who lost a Dad or a Mom.
So much sadness on this day.
Hugs,
Ellen

Wonderful Tribute Lyn. Our lives WERE forever changed on that day. I don't think anyone who was alive on that day will ever forget the way they felt or the horror of what they saw. God bless those who lost their lives and their families and those who put their lives on the line every day just to protect and guard the freedoms we hold so dear. May it never be in vain.
