Good Morning Campers!!
Today I go back to work after being off since Christmas Eve.... in a way it will be nice to get back into my normal routine..I always feel like I am in limbo during the Christmas/New year holidays..but in another way I wish I didn't have to go! I have got quite used to plodding around the house..reading..snoozing etc.. but I do feel out of the loop and need to get back in the swing of things...
Well I got to test out my "live for the moment" mentality this weekend... we got a last minute invite to go to the beach on Friday to stay overnight with our friends at their beach house...the weather was gorgeous so we said "what the heck" and drove down there about 2pm Friday afternoon ..we went for a stroll on the beach...then sat out on their balcony overlooking the ocean and drank a few cold beers..enjoying the view and blessing ourselves for being able to do that on the second day of January!! We went to a jazz concert on the green in the evening and then out for pizza...we slept to the sound of the waves and ate breakfast on the balcony...our friends started talking about plans for the day and we realized they were expecting us to stay Saturday too...the old Lyn would have panicked about not having enough clothes..what about the house ..the kids ..the dog etc... but in reality it was all taken care of with one phone call and we made the decision to stay another day! I got to see Dolphins!! and a bird flew right past us on the balcony with the the biggest fish in it's mouth...we went to the farmers market and browsed the bookstore then we spent the afternoon on the beach..the guys fished and caught 3 blues..we dozed in our chairs and read..we had grilled pork loin for supper and lit the fireplace and watched football..we slept like babies and got up early Sunday morning so hubby could make his tee time...it was a glorious weekend and the perfect end to my Christmas break.... ;-)
I have so many photos that I need to download...my next entry will contain pics I promise!! I have to work today and tomorrow but come hell or high water I will get pics on here Wednesday!!
Have a great week everyone... I will leave you with my five...

oh wow.. your w/end sounds idyllic! I'm so glad you were able to let yourself enjoy it!! Dolphins!?! Too cool!!!!
You are so blessed by being on the beach and loving it in January. I would so love to soak in some sunshine. It's just blah and cold here. Layers of clothing to keep warm and still chilled. I'm at work which is unusally quiet this morning. Hope your day back is a good one. 'On Ya'-ma
Oh Yes, a good start on your "live in the moment" philosophy.
I know that I'm looking forward to some "normalcy" in the routine.
Have a great week!
:) Leigh

OK Lyn I admit it I'm jealous warm and sunny in January remember the UK at this time of year. Love Joan
What a lovely weekend, with the snow and the cold here i am envious.
Jenny <><
It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I would love to be laying on the beach somewhere instead of feeling the 16 degree weather in Illinois. My brother lives in Fort Myers and I still haven't found the time to visit him. You truly are blessed. Have a wonderful week. Hugs
It is 28F as I am reading this here in S. Illinois. It was up to 63F and rainy/windy, causing my back pain to increase, instead of enjoying the warmth. So I feel better with today's cold weather. It has been many years since I was at Daytona Beach. What a wonderful place to be at a beach house in Florida. I enjoyed reading your post and am glad your vacation was a great one. mark and salty

Awwwwwwww well done you for staying!!! Sounds gorgeous!!! Lainey xxxxx
I'm laughing at all the comments about how lucky you are to live in Florida... it sure didn't feel lucky to me! I was so miserable there! I did have a lot of great beach visits during the winter months... I have to admit. I just wasn't able to take advantage of it like i wanted.
Where is your friend's beach house?
Happy Monday! Hope work wasn't too bad!
*hugs*

Your weekend sounds fantastic! I want some friends like yours! LOL Good for you for not stressing and just going with the flow!
Sounds like a great weekend Lyn!! Lucky you! I heard on the BBC news yesterday that supposedly yesterday is the most depressing day of the year. I expect because most of us had to go back to work after not having won the lottery over Christmas! haha
beach? beach house? Gorgeous weather? I'm jealous. Very. I'm so cold. You changed your background, and you're gonna have to do it again soon, cos you can't wish everyone a happy new year for too long, seems a bit daft in February. Glad you had a lovely Christmas
xx Lynbo xx
sounds like you had a wonderful time
its snowing here today :(
sigh
cannot wait to see some pics
Ooohhh the lifestyles of the rich and popular. I'm sure this was a refreshing and fun way to start the New Year. You Go Girl!!! Many times plus some, you deserve it.
I'm hoping many more of these weekends come your way. Take care and enjoy,
Katie
