Happy Birthday True Beauty!!!

24 Years ago today True Beauty made her way into the world at 7.41 am. I had feared the pain of childbirth and thought that it was going to be way worse than it was and therefore did not go to the hospital till rather late for a first timer..I was already 8 cm dilated! However once they told me that I started to panic... I did get an epidural and she came screaming into the world 4 hours later...not without me tearing very badly and having 80 stitches...ouch! She was born at Portsmouth Naval hospital in Virginia and it was a horrible place. I laid in dirty sheets for an entire shift as they had had a shift change and they each thought the other shift had changed me... the bathroom had no light bulb! back then I was a timid little thing and wouldn't dare make a scene...hubby did get things taken care of though but it took ages...he was a nothing muffin back then...LOL...True Beauty was a fussy little thing..I tried to breast feed but was unsuccessful.. I got Mastitis but didn't know it.. my boobs were rock solid with red lines running up them and I had a fever of 102.. a quick trip to the ER and I was treated for infection and True Beauty got some formula and finally stopped crying after 3 days straight....a special thing happened the day she was born..3000 miles away her great grandfather..hubbys gramp..was lying in his hospital bed...he sat up the morning she was born and said who is that beautiful little girl sitting on the end of the bed?? that same afternoon he died..they always say one life leaves as another begins... true beauty was the first grandchild on my side of the family and the first granddaughter on hubbys side so she was welcomed with open arms...she has been an absolute joy to us . I can honestly say that apart from a few teenage moments we have not had an ounce of trouble from her.. she brings joy to all that are around her and is as beautiful on the inside as she is the out.. I am so happy that her and I have become the kind of Mother and Daughter that I so longed for growing up...we are friends now..my job is done of raising her and now we get to enjoy a whole new relationship..one of love and encouragement and friendship....Happy Birthday to my one and only daughter who showed me what unconditional love is and fulfilled my dreams beyond measure...I love you Rachel Lyn.

Awwwww, HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL!!! My oldest will be 21 in August. It's bittersweet, isn't it? They are growing up into such fine young adults but in the same respect, they are GROWING UP! How the heck did that happen??? (lol) I think it was alot easier when they just did what we told them to do when we told them to do it!! (LOL)

Hope your "baby" has a gret day...because I KNOW she will always be your BABY!!!

((hugs))

Happy Birthday to your baby girl! How wonderful you were blessed with such a sweet beautiful daughter. I have been too. 6 boys and only 1 girl here, but I always have felt so blessed to have her. Hope you two get to celebrate the special day together.

Happy Birthday to your daughter!! I love how you phrased that your job is done in raising her and you can NOW be friends! Too many parents are concerned with being their children's friend while they're "attempting" to raise them.

God Bless

Happy Birthday Rachel!!! I read something about parenting today that touched me. It seems like a good time to share it. “If you succeed then they leave just as they become really interesting people that you want to spend time with. If you fail then they live on your couch until their 30s.” I'm so glad you are enjoying the woman your girlie has become. Happy Mum's day to you my dear.

Lyn, I don't see any green links. lol. Where?
Oh this entry was so special. Your Hubby was a "nothing muffin" back then? lol ????
Yes, my grandfather died right before Katy was born. It is funny how that works in families isn't it? Somehow the birth of a child helps ease the pain of losing someone. I've also heard the child takes on the personality of the one who died. Have you heard that? Well, maybe it is in our own heads b/c we like to think that those we just lost help bring the new ones in and look after them. Our way of dealing with it. Have a lovely day and I still don't see those green ads. lol

This was such a sweet tribute to her. I also had a birth in a military hospital and it was the same way as yours. You sure were brave to wait with your first. I didn't even realize I was in labor either. I thought I had a bad case of diareah cramps and asked my parents for some medicine. My father was the one who told me I might be about to have the baby.
She is so pretty and I like it that you all can be friends now.

Happy Birthaday Rachel :) April is a great time to be born! :) Your story kind of reminds me of when my first born came to the world. My nurses were terrible, and my room was very small-not even a TV. For dinner they wheeled in cold fish. My ex-husband had to smuggle in a Whopper from Burger King--I was sooo hungry. OUCH-about the stitching though... IT was worth it though, right? Yes, I think so! Julie :)
