(thanks Donna)
Good Morning campers!
Well I did it! Booked a ticket to go surprise my dad for his 75th birthday! This is a very big deal to me and conjures up a lot of emotions. The last time I planned a surprise visit to UK it was for his 70th birthday and it all went terribly wrong..my mum was rushed to the hospital a week before I was due to fly home..I ended up being there for his birthday anyway but under the worse circumstance.. she died a few weeks later..hooked up to a ventilator.... I told my sister I am almost afraid to try to do it again as it feels like de ja vu....but he is pretty healthy although a bit down lately due to a bad back and having to be immobile.. so my sister and I were chatting on AIM and decided WTH? so we were shooting fares backing forth and I finally found one from Jacksonville to London via Philly and booked it and YES it was ridiculously expensive but it'll all be worth it..her and Di by BF from home will be picking me up at the airport...and then we are going round my dads and she's going to say she picked up his bday present early and out I pop!! Cool huh?? I arrive on may 1st and his actual bday is May 3rd..we will be having a little party for him too that night..it is also a bank holiday weekend so everyone will be off and down the pub so I shall get to see everyone...I am only there for a week so I won't have time to try and see anyone from J Land but I am pretty sure I will be back in the summer.... i am so happy to have something GOOD to look forward to..all I had to think about was hubby leaving for the whole summer...and now I have something to be excited about instead of dreading..to be honest this has been a rough few months for me and this is just what I need to cheer me up! Of course I am on a mega diet...LOL..been to the gym already this morning and will be frantically trying to lose 2 stone in 3 weeks...I know the girls understand what I am talking about! it sucks to be the fat one in the family..I can hear them all now.."I wonder how big our Lyn is this time?" All kidding aside I just have a feeling that I need to go home and see my dad..he isn't getting any younger and you just never know..the regret I still feel about not spending enough time with my Mum is still very real...
In other BritBlog news..True beauty had a birthday yesterday..my beautiful baby girl turned 23...Yikes..that makes me how old?? We went out to Red Lobster as a family for dinner..we had planned on going to the crabshack on the river but the weather put a damper on that..it has been a crappy weekend weather wise....not as bad as UK though..my sister sent me pics of the SNOW..un believable!!
I am in my usual frantic Monday morning rush but I will post some pics this week and that book list I've been talking about doing...I hope you can feel the positive energy I have..I feel like my old self again..you don't realize how low you've been feeling till you start feeling better... I have been to some pretty dark places these past few weeks... <sigh>
Have a great week ...

Lyn- what an exciting entry! it made me smile a mile wide. i am so happy you will get to spend your father's birthday with him. May 3 is my mother's birthday (she died in 1999).....as i think about her, i will also be thinking about how wonderful it is that you are getting to spend this one with your dad :)

Oh! So happy for you. Take every opportunity to see your Dad. Both my parents are gone and I regret every missed opportunity to be with them. I hope you have a wonderful week there. Pat
I could read the excitement and energy in your entry today for sure. How nice to have your trip home. We in Ohio had the best weekend weather wise that we've had in probably 6 months and I spent as much time outside as I possible could. I'll be looking forward to your pictures and the book list. 'On Ya' - ma
I agree Lyn about spending time while you can with elderly parents. So many things I wish I'd said to my dad, so many questions I should have asked - and my dad only lived 2 miles away, not in a different country!
love, Angie, xx
How wonderful! Hope you have a fabulous time! You must be so excited! :)

Hooray! I'm glad you are feeling better and going to surprise your dad and this is gonna work out perfectly this time, I'm sure. I know what 2 stone is! It's 28lbs isn't it? Get to work woman. If they can do it on celebrity fit club you know you can do it.
I hope this is just what you needed to get you out of your slump.
Love,
MJ
that sounds great :o) Definitely better to do it than to live with regret for not doing it. That's how I feel about my nan at the moment but I just don't have the funds to get to see her and she's in the same country as me :( I'm useless!!! Happy belated birthday to truebeauty xx

I'm so happy for you Lyn!!! I am hoping it will be a lovely trip for you and that you enjoy your time with the family very much! On a second note, try having your oldest child turn 32 . . . now THAT makes you feel old. (Yes I WAS a young bride and had him at 19)

What a lovely surprise your Dad is going to have. And for you coming back to your stomping ground will do you the world of good.Everything will go ok so do not worry. It must have been heart rending leaving your mum behind poorly but she would have understood.
You have a fun time to look forwards too.It will make the time your DH is away fly by. He will be home before you know it. Your in my thoughts and prayers Lyn.
I had to smile about one of your answers on your meme. It was you saying scrumping. I got chased by a horse for scrumping apples once. It was so funny you would have wet yourself.
Great news on your weight lose. good for you girl.
