Panic Attack??
So..I think I had a panic attack..I hope that's what it was..let me explain.. As you know we are off to Hawaii next week..the hubby is coming home after 19 month overseas...I've kinda got a lot going on..so when I got this cold/allergy thing I was afraid it was turning into bronchitis or worse so I was self-medicating with some Antibiotics I had left over and some over the Counter Mucinex...on top of that I had a diet Mountain Dew yesterday and a large iced coffee...I woke up at 11.30 last night and felt like I was choking..I sat up and then I felt this "buzzing" in my head and I could feel my heart pounding in my ears..I took my pulse and it was 160 bpm!! I honestly thought I was dying...I went into my daughters room and woke her up and asked her to sit with me for a minute because I didn't want to die alone! She got up and I told her to wait just a minute before calling an Ambulance...I put my head between my knees for a minute..ate a piece of bread..(no idea why) and drank a glass of water and walked around and the feeling went away...I was left feeling very emotional..weepy...tired and faint...but okay...I didn't want to be alone...I sat with the kids for a while then made a cup of tea and went back to bed...after doing some research and talking a to a few people it would appear I had a panic attack..I panicked in reaction to how I was feeling I guess? Anyway I feel okay today..apart from this fear that it will happen again..i have had no caffeine today..no meds and have taken it easy... Has anyone reading this had experience with Panic/Anxiety attacks? I would love to hear your thoughts... L xx

What a terrible experience to go through..
160 bpm..wow, that's racing..even if you run high to begin with, that's way off the charts.
I've experienced the choking feeling once recently..but I was awake and it only lasted a minute or so. After it almost seemed like my breathing was out of whack and caused it..still not sure..
Maybe you should try a little meditation until you and hubby go on your vacation.
You have a lot of changes coming and may need some help making that transition.
I'm sure you didn't want to scare your daughter, but waking her was the best thing you could have done:)
Take care and relax,
Sheri
I know that was scary! So glad that you are feeling better.
Thank goodness you are now okay. I have trouble breathing when I'm in a panic mode.
When I was training the new person to take over my job, she said she felt like that. I think she was overwhelmed at first because she seemed ok after that. Hopefully that is all you had. My DIL also said she had something like that and is now off caffeine. No more for her. With so much going on for you right now, you probably need to slow down and relax a bit. If you are concerned, don't hesitate to see a doctor. Lots of Love and Hugs!
Lyn glad you are feeling better ~ I know Panic attacks can be very frightening ~ glad your Daughter was there to sit with you ~ Ally x
I actually suffer from Panic Disorder. Those feelings you were having sounded very typical of a panic attack but Lynn, just in case, let your doctor know what happened. Certain medical conditions have the same symptoms. They did a full work up on my before diagnosing me with panic attacks. Take care of yourself hun.

It shoulds like a panic attack as per what others have described to me, but I would check it out with my GP if I were you. ~Mary
Lauren had a panic attack for a few months ago for no "apparnt" reason. She just got into bed. Not asleep yet. SCARED THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME. Han never seen one before. If they continue, please see doc.
It does sound like a panic attack. I have them a lot. They are very unfun! I would if I were you work on doing things to calm down. I know that's not necessarily going to happen this week but maybe some meditating. Prayer works too.
A lot of over the counter cold remedies could cause similar reactions and especially combined like that. It could be that or a panic attack but as a cardiac nurse I have to recommend getting any type of cardiac issue checked out to be sure.
Awwwww Lyn, hope you feel better !!!!! Hugs xxxx Lisa
