Good Morning Campers!!
The above picture is my arm..I had an allergic reaction to a wasp sting..I have been stung before..last time I just had minor swelling..this time the reaction was more severe...apparently the reactions can get worse each time...this happened Saturday..I had a little swelling..a little bit of a dull ache..by Sunday Morning the swelling was worse and my arm was getting redder..by Sunday night it was quite painful..I stuck it out because quite frankly who wants to go the ER on Halloween night? But yesterday Morning I really felt crappy..my arm was hot to touch and throbbing..especially if I didn't keep it elevated ..it felt like when they put the blood pressure cuff on your arm too tight..so I gave in and called the base to see if I could get in and they told me to come on up to the clinic..my blood pressure was high...and I was heavier than last time I was there which was...wait for it...2003!!!! I knew I hadn't been to the Dr's for a while but had no idea it had been that long! Anyway the Dr was quite concerned about my arm..my blood pressure etc..he wanted to have me stay and give me IV antibiotics and fluids but I managed to convince him that I would follow the protocol to the Tee at home..(I was in my scrubs as I thought I might go to work so I think that helped convince him because he knew I am in the Medical Field) So I was allowed home with my arm in a sling..Steroids..Antibiotics..Antihistimines...Pain pills and and antacid..and also an Epi pen in case I get stung again and the reaction is worse. He also signed me off work..:-)
So here I am snuggled up in bed with my Laptop..feeling so much better and happy that I went to the Dr. I don't know why I have such a fear of going..one of the reasons I got in to this field was to try and conquer my fear but it hasn't really..I guess I am just one of those people who if I have something wrong I don't want to know..which could be deadly I know...SO..I am going to make a pact with myself in the New Year I will go the DR and have a full physical and get all my female examinations too...I am concerned about my blood pressure..my dad has it and my Maternal Grandma had a stroke too ..
Anyway it is so nice to be home..the weather is very British this morning..cloudy and dull and I can't think of a better place to be than snuggled up here with my Laptop and my books for the day..I am feeling way better but hey if the Dr signed me off work I might as well enjoy it..:-)
Hope everyone is having a good week so far...I shall be doing the rounds this morning..doesn't take long these days..most of us are doing the one liner thing on Face book..which I am guilty of too but I still love blogging..

Oh Lyn poor you ,that does look painful ,I am like you, very reluctant to trot of to the Docs ,for whatever ,naughty isnt it ,we should really practise what we preach ,ah well enjoy your day in bed ...love Jan xx
I think it has been longer than 2003 in my case, I have such a hard time with it all. Thankfully my health has been good so I just go to the flu clinics every year and get my shot. A day in bed and feeling better sounds like a perfect kind of day to me! Enjoy!
Sorry to hear about your health woes. Glad you got treatment for the sting. I'm allergic to bees so I know how terrible an ordeal it can be. Beds are so comfortable. Read, relax and hopefully get better.
Oh Lyn that does look painful ~ you enjoy your day snuggled up with your laptop and your books ~ It sounds like a perfect way to spend your day ~ Ally x
Personal medical info can be bombarding, even if you work in the field. I am sorry, but glad you are home resting now.
Hi Lyn,
I hope the arm is better soon. Meanwhile, kick back and enjoy the much needed R & R.

I had a similar reaction on my leg in 1997, luckily have not been stung since.
Poor Lyn. hope you are feeling more comfortable by now....wish I didn't have to go to the Docs/Hospital so much, but it's now become a 'way of life' for me.
A rare week when I don't have an appointment.BUT,things have to be checked out,and I would become more unwell overtime.
*Thank you for your recent comments

I got stung by a bee a few years ago and its hurt like you know what. I was swollen but not like in your case. I don't like to see Drs either. I see my neuroligist twice a year and my pressure is mormal. I hope you'll be feeling better soon! HAVE a good week.

Yes indeed, enjoy your time off. Rest. Go with the theory that Dr knows best. Please, please go and have a full medical. And even if you are scared its so vital to have the woman check ups. If you don't take care of yourself, how can you take care of your family!?! Set a good exmaple!!! xx
I am so glad you went to the doctor - do not worry - I have the same fear - cannot stand going...but I am glad you did and are feeling better - take care about getting stung - it really could have been so much worse...Thanks for stopping by - I know everyone is hooked on FB but one liners just do not tell the story for me...I still like reading blogs...take care of you - and stay in touch~!~
Enjoy the time off--snuggle for me too!
That sting does look nasty. I slightly allergic. I swell up and itch but it only lasts a day. Hope you're feeling better.
Happy Hump Day
That looks nasty, and you were right to be issued with an Epipen. You don't want to think of the consequences of the next wasp sting. Get well soon!
I am glad you went and got checked out and glad they gave you an epi pen in case. take care, your arm looks sore.
